It's interesting that people saw WiS as the WOD beta and didn't think that thee development of WoD may have been a way of developing a bigger eve and recouping the costs through another game.
The vision of a world which had ships, ground warfare, people runnig bars or god forbid player run agents (thankyou TRIAD) in stations attracted me to EVE. The idea that when i dock at a statione there may be a firefight happening in some slum, i can negotiate prices with a real person or the guy fixing my ship i can argue him down on price, but i dint ralise he fitted second hand parts and my guns overheat faster or he stuck a tracking device on my industrial so pirates could follow it. A New eden where 0.0 can have an economey based around services offered in a station and encourages trade, ilegal back room deals etc...

That is the vision of New Eden that CCP has for new eden and thats what i want from this game. Yes NeX was a poorly implemented idea, however you may need to get througfh the birthing pains to get to what would be the greatest game ever created, we have the tech to do it, just maybe not the will.
this honestly.
when i saw walking instations i didnt look at it as failed or as a waste of resources. think about it.
the more environments the company has to work with, not only wil their be mroe players, but they will have the reason, resources, location, and ability, to put EVEN MORE features in the hands of the players, and who knows, if they ended WiS with a fairly successful economy of bars, markets, player run reapir/custom shops, they may even add NeX items eventually to the player's hands as well.
when looking at WiS, think of it as a stepping stone to give the players in eventual MORE control over their game by being able to have a location to participate in more of the workings of the game.
maybe im being optimistic, but really, the more material the dev's have to work with to make EvE Unique, the more oppurtunities they will have to give the player's something meaningful to control. |

Wouldn't "making WiS work" imply that it doesn't make the game fail?
Is it so much to ask that they exist in harmony here? It's not like we're talking about matter and anti-matter that cause self destructive explosions when they meet.
If they keep it as optional as it is now and give it a bit of development (75/25 FiS/WiS) then what in god's name is going to effect you in such a way that makes you and every other person in EVE quit in droves?
I wasn't the WiS concept alone that caused riots, it was the possibility of non-vanity microtransactions and the fact that WiS wasn't optional.
Now that both of those major points are no longer an issue what do we have left? The fact that it melts computers?
A) They'd fix that by the time i get's to be multiplayer anwyay.
B) If you don't like it and don't use it then why do you care?
EVE doesn't need to be pushed into being social, but it needs more avenues to allow us to be more social as we want.
For instance an ability to create and join groups independent of corporations. That way, for instance 80% of this thread can join the "I hate WiS" group xD
Don't like it? then don't join the effing group! gawd.... (and for those of you really anti-socials you'll need an option to hide the existence of groups altogether on char sheets that you view.)
