All:
In light of the successful contest the last two years I am pleased to announce the third year for a writing contest for stories or poems by Capsuleers .
This year's contest will be judged differently. In response to past criticisms, I've tried to secure a more balanced panel. There will be three judges per category:
Poetry: Thal Vadam Ayallah Mengyao Chemineau
Prose Silver Night Literia Alizebeth Amalath or TBD
Academic Nicoletta Mithra Sammie McWinters Morwen Lagann
There is no minimum length. Maximum length is 30,000 words. There is no required subject matter; the content may be fiction or non-fiction. All entries will be considered. Submissions are to be made by posting on Eve Forums - Eve Fiction or on http://backstage.eve-inspiracy.com . Your post should specifically reference at the outset that it is being submitted for consideration in the YC 117 New Eden Capsuleer's Writing Contest. If you have a good reason why you want to make a private submission, then contact me privately as to why.
Deadline for submissions is October 30th of this year.
Winners will be announced at the a special gala in November Date TBD/Time TBD at the Golden Masque (Thank you Morwen Lagann!).
The contest into has three categories Poetry, Prose, Non-Fiction (News/Treatises/Etc.) with five awards for each. 1st; 350 million 2nd; 250 million 3rd: 200 million 4th: 75 million Honorable Mentions: At Judge's Discretion - 20 million isk
Winners may be invited to give a reading at the Holy Grape in Emperor Family Station in Amarr (depending on length, the reading may be limited to selected excerpts. Additionally, each of the Judges may, in their discretion, award a personal prize to the favorite (regardless of the "place" of the submission)
All judges and I (as administrator) are disqualified from submission.
All entries will be considered.
if the quality of the entries does not merit the number of prizes, then prizes will be given up to the number deemed meritorious.
if people have any questions or need rulings, I am the contest administrator and you can feel free to message me directly.
The most "amusing" or "entertaining" to me* gets treated to a candlelit dinner by me at a fine restaurant

((All submissions are expressly subject to the TOS and we certainly do not claim ownership. The submission of course, however, must be yours.
Note for ISD - This is specifically an In Character/Roleplay thing - a writing contest to be done by characters, not the players. The expectation is the submissions, whether poetry, prose or academic ' would be in character or related to the character of to the capsuleer submitting it and people will have rp as part of the process. I also invite comments on the IGS related to this post in a RP vein or other RP in channels! Judging is also on an In character basis. |

Vlad Cetes... errr... submitted the first entry on the backstage forums.
My pardon Mr. Cetes, as administrator I can't comment (and my stomach can't handle this sort of reading this early in the morning). I"ll defer to the judges.
Still *weak smile* first entry in and plenty of time (Oct. 30th) for more.

Intriguing! I've never been into Amarr space, so the prospect of being able to go to the Holy Grape of all places is worth aiming for in and of itself (but I'm still taking the ISK if I win). I'll have my submission in soon. |

I, for one, am greatly surprised that my brilliant work detailing the beliefs of the Covenant, was not considered worthy of a prize or mention. Perhaps the profound revelations were too profound this time.
Polite applause for the winners.

Polite applause for the winners. I believe my submission was too long for the contest. Next year I will make it a lot shorter, more sweet and to the point.
Still, congrats to those who won and got the honorable mentions. Good job. |

I am honored to have received 2nd place, and wish to extend my congratulations to all the other contestants. Truly an impressive collection of works have been assembled within this contest.
I humbly thank my former Directrix and the judges, and ask that my prize be transferred to Greygal of Redemption Road, for use in support of their community services.

Congratulations to the winners! I'm very happy this thing has become an annual celebration not only of our writing skills, but also of sharing good stories. Everybody loves a good story. Looking forward to the next year! I also deposited a small amount of ISK to Ms. Lunarisse as a reward for outstanding contribution to the local Interstellar Galactic Summit community.

I only saw the invitation mail after the event and missed it entirely. Apologies.
Also I was under the weather for a while.

I would again like to express my thanks to SFRIM and Conciliatrix Aspenstar for the prize to our research team! We look forward to further competition next year, and mark my words: Mr. Egivand, we intend to do better than merely tie!
