Well, we once again agree.
It's almost as if, once you peel back that we're on different sides of a century-long animosity, Caldari Liberalism and Gallente Whatever-you-are are actually compatible in general ideological outlook. We just disagree on governance.

You've seen, I trust, how I spar with Kim nearly as much as I've pilloried your compatriots for draping themselves in flags? Ideological puritanism -- especially when caught up in national or racial terms -- is a bane upon productive society.
Again, despite ourselves, we agree.

I've said this many times, Gallenteans and Caldari are not as different as people are led to believe, and our systems of beliefs are not quite so different among the median in each society. It is only at the extremes that things become so bitter, and those extremists have been leading the Federation and State into ruin for a decade.
Only the liberty of the individual assures the prosperity of the whole.
And this foundation must be defended.

Its a fair distinction. I put the quotation marks around "Patriotism" in an effort to limit my comparison to those who wrap their oppression of others in a patriotic mantle the way the U-Nats did. I will say that the Provists didn't come from nowhere, nor are their ilk entirely gone. |

Of course it wasn't necessary. What the U-Nats did was a terrible mistake, and one that we're all still paying for.
I think a lot of us would like to see the militia abolished, proper borders re-established in Black Rise and Placid, and real trade resume between the Federation and the State.

Honestly this is a topic I have very little interest in when it is in the context of creating controversy. I didn't really read the other one. I love history as a subject, and long conversations about what lessons are to be learned from the past are among my favorite things.
What we so often see instead is history weaponized into a rhetorical club. No nuance. No introspection. Just bile and angst. Its a shame, and worse... a waste of time. |

The bombardment of Caldari Prime was necessary, to produce the desired situation that the Jovians wished to observe.
By utilising their infiltrator agents within both governments, they created the swells of nationalistic feeling that ultimately led to the war.
Then they poured fuel onto the flames, to escalate the conflict, ultimately resulting in the bombardment of Caldari Prime, and the evacuation of the Caldari people.
The aim of this project, was to study a large-scale stellar conflict between differing technological cultures, something that the Jovians did not have a lot of data on.
By selectively disseminating various technologies, e.g. the capsule as given to the Caldari, the Jovians were able to perpetuate the conflict, and study it in more detail.
And that, is why the Jove Empire must be destroyed.

Jovian Observatories, my dear.
Jovian Observatories have been spotted in position to observe Gallente and Caldari Prime.
It is well known, that Jovian agents gave certain technologies to various parties, notably the capsule to certain Caldari corporations.
And, following the revealing of the Jovian Observatories, and the collection of data from them, we observed fragmentary records including:
"23154-12-12 - Randomized sweeps of recently seceded Caldari communications indicate that alternative source for model of social cohesion will be increasingly defined by opposition to Gallente model. Schism becoming pronounced. Threshold for constructive comparison of existing conditions approaching. " and: "23121-09-11 - Updated Gallente status provides a model for social cohesion. Suggest further observations are shared with Modifier enclaves."
And, you will note, that 23154 was the old-calendar year of the Caldari secession from the Federation.
And you will also note, that the Jovian data mentions "constructive comparison", i.e. that the Jovians were interested in studying both Gallente and Caldari social models, and their responses to various stimuli, including what happens when one or other of the involved parties gains a technological edge.

The best defence is a strong offence.
To resist Jovian psy-assault, think strong, violent, unpredictable thoughts.
You are hungry, you fancy a sandwich. The sandwich turns into a 6-sided dice. You roll the dice. It turns up number 1. A second dice appears. It is also number 1. Snake eyes. The dice turn into a snake, that hisses and launches itself at you. It's not a snake, it's an Eagle. A Gallente Eagle. It's not the Gallente Eagle, it's a Phoenix. It bursts into flames. The flames are the bombardment of Caldari Prime. The sky turns dark. It begins to rain. The rain is full of black dust. It is the dust of burnt corpses. You try to scream, but you have no mouth. You are a burnt corpse. You are the cold roasted meat in a lunch sandwich. You eat the sandwich. You are no longer hungry. You look up. It is the sun. The sky turns dark, a shadow passes in front of the sun. It is a winged demon, with a 9-bladed sword. The demon says "The End is Nigh". You look down. You are naked. Your lover caresses your naked body. You laugh, and crush the life out of them with your many metal tentacles. You are a rogue drone dreadnought, and you laugh as you crush the human ships with your gripping appendage. You consume the metals and organic compounds. You become a small moon, that sprouts wings and flies through the heavens. You impact upon the Jove homeworld in an extinction-level event. The Jovians burst into flames.
Think things like that. They'll make any Jovians that are attempting to manipulate you lose their focus.

Depends on the kind of orbital bombardment. Wide-area saturation bombardment against population centres? Absolutely horrific and unnecessary. Surgical bombardment against ground targets of strategic value? Very useful and very necessary.
The best artillery any dirt-stomper can count on is right up there in orbit. Second best will be from the air. Third best will be ground-based.
