OK so I have just resubscribed to eve, I can never keep myself away for longer than 6 months hahaha. I am a caldari/amarr pilot with hybrid small med and large trained to lvl 5 and the same for lasers. I also have average skills with missiles. I have spent most of my time in eve doing PvE (hence caldari trained up for the raven) and quite alot of pvp time in large gang/fleet pvp (hence amarr trained up so I can snipe)
Now that I have come back to eve I don't want to get involved with all the big alliance wars just yet... Id prefer to spend a few months making money agent running whilest at the same time staying around low sec to learn the roaps of solo pvp.
Now finally after all that to the point of the post: what in your opinion is the best TII weapons system to train up for solo pvp? Atm I am thinking I could go for blasters and train to fly gallente ships but then again I have few drone skills... or I could go megapulse but I am not sure how good amarr are at solo pvp. Possibly I could go for rails but they are more suited to fleet combat due to the range.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Drezz

There is no best weapon, or best race. But out of amarr and cadari, caldari are probably the better solo race of the two.
If you have more gunnery skills, then blasters would seem your best option over missiles.

I've gotta call bull on this one. Caldari can't solo their way out of a wet paper bag. Amarr have cap and damage-type problems, sure, but at least they can fit both tackle and tank gear at the same time.

lol A ship is what you make it, and how you choose your targets wisely.

Admitably I've never flown Amarr, not do I know much about their ships nor weapons. That said, most people will probably vaguely agree with me that only choice ships of the Amarr are solo-pvpable.
The more common solo-pvp you see are Gallente and Minmatar. Gallente have weight of fire power (Blasters, Drones) on their side while Minmatar has speed and versatility on their side. Minmatar tend to require higher skills to get the absolute best out of their ships. So if you're just playin' around and learning the ropes and already have good hybrid skills, I'd suggest Blasters in a Thorax. Add drones when you can.
Alternatively, if you're looking for a bit more of a challenge, a Autocannon Rupture would be a viable build, especially with its double DPS bonus. The extra high slot gives it a bit of utility (NOS, Missiles, weird stuff) and can armor tank fairly well while still giving you enough slots for tackling gear.
Those are your gunships. If you have more Drone skills than you're letting on, a Vexor is a solid choice. If you're short of ISK, fitting out a stabber is a cheap fit and quite fun. If you've got ISK to burn, feel free to put your self in a Battlecruiser. Brutix is an amazing gun platform, Hurricane is a deadly versatile little spear of awesome and the Myrmidon is the drone pilot's wetdream. If you wanna go Caldari, the Drake can tank like a beast and spam missiles with the best of them. Caracal is cheap for spamming missiles; five assault launchers will obliterate frigs right quickly. I dunno much about Amarr but I've heard the Maller is a good ship; tough as hell.
All in all, decide what it is you want to do. Guns? Drones? DPS? Tank? Hit and run? Weird ****? Know what you want and it's much easier for us to suggest something useful.

woah give me a break! I know there is no "best" gun in eve! I am not a noob. I just phrased the question badly...
I meant if you were in my position what would you do based on what you think are good solo/small gang pvp weapons.

dood, It's not so much the weapon that you use, it's your skills at using it. Your cross training is doing nothing but giving you alot of things you are crappy with. Take something and stick with it. Take a certain ship you like that is decent at PVP (non-caldari) and go for/with that one ship for a while.
For instance, I've flown the myrmidon since they came out and similar ships such as the ishtar for the past year. Because that is the one ship that i have choosen to specialize in, I fully maximize the output of the ship. The point is... As long as people are cross training ships and races before maxing the skills in either are, for the most part, guaranteed to loose their BS in a fight with my myrmidon.
If instead of training both Hybrids and lasers to lvl 5 you had only trained lasers and put the hybrid training into other skills that benifit your amarr BS, your BS would be much much more effective than it is now. Things such as secondary weapons skills, tanking skills, navigation, cap skills, drone skills (because a geddon has a nice drone bay) -------------------------------------- ---"What's in your wallet?"--- "There are two kinds of respect, fear and admiration.... Well, if you dont like drones, or dont wanna spend time on it, stick with amarr. Got ISK? try the amarr HACs, they are hell... Wanna fight with cheap cruisers? Maller and omen are great IMHO. The complains about amarr IMHO, is more of ppl trying to play them as gallente. Long range is the territory of rails Close range is the territory of blasters Mid range is the territory of Lasers ;)

QFT.
And by the way i can't imagine of any races that are further apart in skill requirements than caldari and amarr.

amarr bs suck something rotten solo tbh. gallente and minnie bs are the best for solo pvp. with smaller ships they all have their strengths tbh
