Ok, before the flames, I will state up front that I am generally opposed to any rolling back of characters.
However.
Lots of people are doing agent missions because of the new skills, research agents, etc. etc. Well, they're bugged. Bugged in the same way that space is big. Seriously big. Enormously, mindbogglingly big. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the street to the chemists', but .....
You get my point How bugged? A lot of people have lost huge amounts of standing with their agents, their agents' corps, their agents' factions, because of being told they've failed a mission which they already completed some time ago. Conversely, some people are completing missions within the early-bonus time, and being given the wrong rewards. Wrong, as in original cruiser blueprints worth 70 million ISK plus, instead of some 50,000ISK piece of equipment. Wrong, as in a batch of a dozen or so new skillbooks which they can promptly sell for millions of ISK each, instead of the ONE skillbook which they needed for themselves and should have been given.
This is going to so utterly distort the playing field - those who are lucky enough to be completing agent missions will gain incalculably vast riches in no time, those who are failing them due to bugs will be reduced to hauling garbage for 1 ISK a trip - and, because of the new agent stuff, so many people are involved in the chaos, that it is my opinion CCP will eventually be left with no choice but to roll everything back to where it was when the Castor patch first went in.
This post serves two purposes. First, it states my opinion that a rollback will be necessary - even though I don't like it. Feel free to disagree with this opinion - but please don't attack me for supporting rollbacks, since I generally don't.
Second, if I'm right, it serves as a warning to all not to get too attached to whatever you've gained since the patch came in. I think it's all going to go down the pan before much longer. For *this* ground, the post is justified whether or not you agree with me, so please don't complain that I shouldn't have posted it at all

Agreed Baldour, they think about a rollback seriuosly. Agents are crucial to T2 and they are very bugged. Either u get a 10 skill books at a time or u lose standing for no reason. Iv lost so much standing from completing agent missions that i cant even use that lv3 anymore.
At the very least consider a standing rollback to just after the patch was applied as it will take forever to recoup the standing that iv lost.

Not minor detail, agents and standing are the main things in this patch, they allow u to progess, to get new stuff. If these are borked then the whole tech 2 rollout will be borked.

Much as I hate to agree to a rollback I think the OP is correct that it needs to be done in this case.

if people know that the agent system is borked why are they still using it?
boggles the mind. the very first mission I did yesterday had that bug, so I stopped soon after and went to bed instead of working at it for some extra hours, if it's still screwed up today I'll probably start mining for a while to stock up for those missions when they do get fixed.
what a little common sense would do... unfortunately it's not all that common...

Personally, if CCP only fix the problem and do not clear up the aftermath i see little reason to pay for this game anymore.
Any game in which the Devs turn a blind eye to bug which enable players to skip hours of tedious work and become rich overnight isn't worth playing, unless you happen to be m8s with a dev or two
I was impressed with the initial launch of this patch, fair enough problems happen, but for once we have been kept fairly upto date with whats gone wrong ect. The new features, love them or hate them, so seem to be for the good of the game.
On the downside, the Devs have known about the problems with agent missions, and more importantly the way the rewards have turned out for over 10 hours now and nothing has really been said about the outcome or any measures taken to stop the flood of skills and blue prints being rewarded. |

There is a work around, only tell your agent you finished the mission in the station your agent is located in. The mission will complete like normal.
Tell your agent at a different station and your agent will pay you your money but when you get back to him/her they still need you to finish the mission.
Seriously it took only 2 borked missions to figure this out, I'm surprised people are so slow to picking this up.

Thats fine if you get a bug which stops you from continuing. How about if that first mission gave you 13 Gallente Starship engineering skills, the second gave you some blueprints, the third some more skills and so on. Would you stop using the broken agent system knowing how many millions of isk you are making?
I was offered 2 missions that gave skills as rewards out of the first 4, this was within 1 hour of starting with castor. If you have been lucky enough to avoid the bugs and have been doing these missions for the last 10 hours... |

Yes hindsight is a very good skill. However it only took one failed mission for me to loose my access to lvl 3 agents. I've been using your work around for lvl 2 agents, one thing for sure, you wont get many time bonus rewards using that method. |

I'm one for stability and bug less system but I know thats never 100% but I think the rollback in needed. I've seen so many things lost already due to lack of information. Would of been nice if we could of gotten on the test server to actually try some things about but its been full almost 100% of the time.
So far i've incountered bugged exiting station to roid belt (2 times now) apoc and arm lost due to being targeting right away by rats. Others have incountered the Courier mission bug/exploit that was over the new 20,000m3 limit (30 mil was lost to a guy that just looked at the description).
I urge that a rollback is needed (even though don't want to loose skill time) but something needs to be done to fix bugs.

I rather think myself, that it might be a good idea at this point for CCP to announce there will be a rollback in, say, 2 days (if they think they'll have the problem fixed by then) and request that we keep playing in the meantime so they can get more reports of what exactly is wrong.
And, of course, they'd have to grant us 2, 3 days free playing time to cover the days lost.

Lol nice sig Baldour
Im kinda in agreement with you, although makes me wonder if choas testing is enough? I mean how could bugs as big as this make it thru to TQ?
The only thing which is starting to annoy me is the lack of answers/information. Rollback/item removal, yes or no?
I really hope it is yes, took me long enough to get ever***** out of my system, dont want to get addicted to it again so soon. |

Well the real kicker is still they say they have no logs of ships lost and crap which is ****ing me off. In one system that had maybe 1 ship lost per day now we had 34 ships lost in 2 hours. Thats sad and there is something up with the patch.
For instance since I lost Apoc they're typical response is can't do anything because we don't log that activity. Yet polaris players said send a petition and you'll get your stuff back. Well thats just great, hear something from 1 person and get shot out by the devs. Hell even gave an exact loadout of the ship.
Anyways sorry for that rant. All I can say is there should of been more of a warning to players then just pirates will be harder for at least NPC hunting. Some people don't look at the forms and such so they don't see this stuff and they end up loosing out.
Well another reason for rollback would be that all the exploits going on. Courier missions that are over stock rating and then the agents that give out millions of isk for something thats really simple and non complex, implants are hard to get so why not other items that can make millions. Then you got the agents that you lost or loosing standing to because of bugs and such.
1000% sure for a rollback here, and I'm sure many people will be happy and well the only people that would complain are the exploiters at this point in time.

Although there is much to support the point of suggesting a rollback, I do not think that is the best idea.
The devs know there are problems with agent missions and will be working out the solution. I have also lost my lvl 3 agent with a nasty standing drop after a bugged mission.
Having a rollback won't change the problems with the agents. The agents have to be worked on but when the solution is made it will be easier to implement there than rolling back the game. Either way you would have the problem resolved and in many cases faction standings restored and losses remunerated.
A rollback would only keep people playing from now until the rollback and would leave us in the same place we were. Working through to a solution will put us farther ahead than starting over again.
In the meantime, be careful doing agent missions and realize that it's still buggy. It's a risk you have to take for the time being but will undoubtedly get resolved shortly.

I agree there is not enough to warrant a role-back. Yes some people lost their lvl 3 agents and that of course sucks, but their are alot of other players out there whom shouldn't lose a day or 2 of work just because some agent missions are borked.

/emote votes rollback
call me a carebear if you will but this patch is absolute chaos, and yes iam one of those people who lost a BS in about 45 seconds due to about 16 NPCs that jumped me, im also one of those people whos level 3 agents are tore back worse then rick james on a bad ***** bender. On a plus side the new skills look pretty cool but over all there are way to many issues for this to be a patch on a production server. |

Well my research agent won't work with me cause my skills aren't up to snuff, knew about it so no problem there except losing out on all the free multimillion isk missions being handed out.
went to work with my other level 3 and he gave me the most simplistic mission ever, choose not to do so i let it time out, came back and asked for more work and he offered the SAME mission. Is this a bug or the way the system will work from now on?
Thirdly my other agents will still talk to me but won't work with me due to loss of faction standing, great like not having agents at all. If you can catch me you can have me. |

From the news...
Quote:
- Those players who encountered the complete mission bug and lost standing due to this will be reimbursed after the patch which fixes the problem. So if you lost some standing due to this situation, you will recieve it back soon enough. Please refrain from petitioning about this issue, as we are going to deal with this on a global scale, and not case-by-case through petitions.
Which is a step in the right direction, but again there are problems. People who havnt been affected by the loss of standings will be at an advantage now, while those that are affected wait for a fix.
But as i said, its some good news at least

Anything nasty that happens to you because of BAD luck can probably be rectified. You might lose a couple of days' ground on the rest of us, but that isn't fatal. Unless you die of a heart attack at the thought of not being the very first person to learn Amarr Starship Engineering
I was much more concerned about the insanely generous rewards. The way things are going, people will have earnt BILLIONS of ISK, for missions that should have rewarded in the tens of thousands. What's more, since those billions come in the form of blueprints, ultra-rare mods and skillbooks etc., so many of them will be sold, used, passed on to alts and corpmates, copied in the case of bookmarks ... I really, really hope there is a way to untangle the hideous mess this is causing, without needing to resort to a rollback. But I honestly can't imagine there being one.
