Is trading a good profit if you use a freighter?

Can be if you really work at it to find some good profit margin items to move.
The problem I have found is I rarely find anything in large quantity where the price difference is much more than 5-10 ISK. Even if I could fill my freighter to the brim I'd not make even 10 mil on one run (and often a lot less). 10 mil is all well and good but with the horrid slow pace of freighters making a 30+j roundtrip for that 10 mil doesn't money out so well for time spent. I can make more doing a mission in the same amount of time and have more fun doing it.

I doubt anyone would/could tell you what secret little items they've found that can prodce massive profits - cuz then they'd lose their trade :-)
I got my sig snipped again. Can someone make me a new one? |

Freighters are more of a corp asset, one man with freighter skill will move the minerals that mining has refined from point A to point B, the trading post or manufacturing center. ------------- Midshipman Lithalnas - Logistics Division - Hadean Drive Yards

It can be done however it depends heavily on a number of factors:
1. Finding suppliers at bulk prices willing to supply to you. 2. Having the ISK to front bulk purchases 3. Having alot of market savvy 4. Having multiple alts in multiple regions to keep tabs on pricing and those lovely deals that come up now and again.
1 example I will use because the opportunity is now gone was 3 freighters worth of ice product at under 20% trade center average.
So of course I purchase as much as my wallet would allow (2.5 bill worth) and resold at various profitable places. When it's all sold (it's almost all gone now) I will have made nearly 500m profit for less than 3 hours work (and thats just the hauling it around part)

I'll add that these deals on the general market don't come up often so it's better to deal with a major producer in bulk (requires alot of social networking).
And people think pvp is what makes this game challenging :)

BTW watch out for the sales tax. I saw a run that wasn't too many jumps and had a 10% or so margin so I went for it. Whoops! Sales tax ate all my profit! I forgot about that and immediately went and trained relevant skills to get that lowered.
