Ive been doing level 4s for awhile in battleship size ships, most were done in sniping rail based battleships. Ive just finished my eos command ship training and have tried out the following setup:
7x Heavy Neutron IIs 4x Cap Charger IIs 1x 10mn AB II 3x Active Hardner's II 2x Med Rep IIs
So far its been an alright setup for Serpentis Spy. Im just wondering if there is a better setup out there? Am i pushing the limit with a blaster setup with lvl4s? Or should i go back to rails setup just to be safe?

I'd just say dont forget about drones. Those are one of your biggest assets in that ship. Though ive not flown an eos (finished the training about a week ago though, and im just finishing off some leadership stuff) i would think with sentrys and a rack of rails it would be just as effective and easier to run missions since with blasters you have to get so close to each bs. i dunno something to think about. rails + sentry drones should be some nice damage. and then some lights for the frigs. tank seems pretty solid tho.

forget the blasters.
250mm t2 rails
3x cap recharges, web, tracking comp t2
1x mar (t2 or faction), ean , 2x hardeners, dcu t2
5x heavys and meds in hold :)
2x rep ammount rigs
the eos isnt THAT effective whit rails as astarte but is better than blasters.
you can change around the mids aboit if u want but u should have 2x caprechargers, they help you run stuff for quite a while
Great being Gallente... aint it ? ----------------- <------ Hijack free space :) ----------------- |

QFT. However much of a good idea it sounds, it isnt. That extra damage from the blasters is negated by the distances you have to travel to the rats.
The Eos doesnt even get the nice falloff bonus of the Astarte so you need to get really close. While you're killing one of the BS, the others drift out to their orbit ranges. Even with good use of a web, some of them wll slip through.
Maybe if MWD worked in deadspace, but not with a AB.
Edit: as the guy up there ^ says - sentries can be interesting. 7 x 250mm + sentries = rats die pretty fast, and you dont have to wait for the drones to move to engage the next one.

My setup for level 4 missions:
Highs: 7x250mm T2 Rails - Antimatter Mids: 1x10MN AB T2 1x'PWNAGE' Target painter 3xCap Recharger T2 Lows: 1xMAR T2 3x Active Hardeners T2 1xEAN T2 Rigs: Drone Speed/Distance Augmentation's
Drones: 5xHeavy 5xMedium 5x Light (carry spare depending on skill of command ship)
The tank is amazing and the cap can run (with my skills) indefinitely...with using the AB and guns together there is some deprecation.

Edited by: neutero on 02/03/2007 01:54:29 Building on the rail theme, but adding sniping tools:
High: 7 x 250 mm Rails II Med: AB II, sensor booster II, tracking computer II, 2 x cap recharger II Low: MAR II, 2 x hards II, damage control, Mag Stab II
Whith spike your range is 82km optimal and antimatter 20k optimal
With the 2 cap rechargers, you can run everything except the AB indefinitely |

[HIGH] 250mm II [MEDS] AB II, large Peroxide cap battery, 3 cap recharger II [LOW] 2 med T2 reppers, T2 EANM, 2 T2 rat-specific hardeners
Powergrid rigs to fit the 250mm IIs
Dual-repper tank runs almost forever, at least long enough to finish a LVL4 mission. This setup works well for complexes too _______________________________________________

From what I hear the Eos makes an excellent passive shield tank, and this was before the T2 passive modules and rigs arrived. Calling Pottsey?

I see some posted fittings with only 1 MAR II. Is this enough for running LvL4 missions ? Even with an armor-rep rig, you will get about 65Armor/sec, this isnŠt a huge amount, even with good resists.

Edited by: Pottsey on 02/03/2007 17:44:54 It does make a great passive tanked something crazy like a 2000 or was it 2500dps tank from memory on kinetic/Thermal. I used it for complexes though not missions. You get super high regen in the 400 to 500 HP/s area. I guess it would work for missions. But I do have some rare modules on my Eos.

I just want to update everyone that i have changed my eos setup and its now working perfectly.
I am currently using the following: 7x 250 IIs 4x Cap Charger IIs 1x 10Mn AB II 3x Active Armor Hardnerns II 1x Mag stab (or 1x EANM II if i dont feel safe) 1x Med Rep II
I can have lal my guns going, my ab, armor hardnerners, and med rep going all at the same time and it will hold at around 60% cap constantly. There are only a few instances when the dps gets too high that i cant tank but thats usually when i aggro the entier 2nd stage of serpentis extrav heheh. I am now testing out sentry's vs heavies and will update you all on my findings

Armor tanking is nice but shield tanking is so much better for rail-eos:
High: 250mm II rails Meds: AB, Gist C-type Large or better, 3 hardeners...need to be named/faction often because of cpu Lows: mix of damage mods, PDSII:s and maybe DCU. Using Shadow Serpentis mag stabs helps for cpu problems.
Used that setup before rigs were in game, now prolly even better.
Couple of damage mods raise rail damage to whole new level, booster permaruns... Avoid only missions against laser npc:s, use armor tank then.

With high skills you'll get a continuous tank with...
6 250 II's (antimatter - 16km / Tungsten 45km for sniping drones/frigs) 1 Salvager/Tractor Beam
10MN AB II Fleeting Stasis Web (godsend vs frigs) 3x CR II's
3 Hardener II's 2 Med Rep II's
You don't even need faction fit to be able to do lvl 4 missions. It's just a killing machine, especially vs mordus and mercs which happily set at your optimal range.
For drones I tend to carry
5 Warden's 5 Wasp II's rest light drone II's __ I really don't need BoB propaganda here any more. Let's embrace yiffy. |
