I think that some of our pod pilot community, with their new found freedom to spread into the stars, have lost touch with the mainstream society that exists on the Caldari planetside.
For a refresher I offer some quotes from the databanks of eve:
Quote: A state built on corporate capitalism, the Caldari State is run by a few mega-corporations which divide the state between them, controlling and ruling every aspect of society. Each corporation is made up of thousands of smaller companies, ranging from industrial companies to law firms. All land and real estate is owned by a company which leases it to the citizens, and government and policing are also handled by independent companies.
We are a people that produce. Our society has many layers, from the top down to the bottom. Each layer has a responsibility to the other. The government provides for us, and we provide for the government. But even the term government is misleading, since our government is very decentralized - with the powers distributed umongst the megacorporations and it's subsidearies.
Quote: Caldari society is steeped in military tradition. As a people, its members had to fight a long and bloody war to gain their independence, and even had to surrender their home planet to their hated enemies, the Gallenteans. It was at this time that the corporations established themselves as the driving force behind creating and maintaining the new Caldari State. Even if the Caldari have not engaged in war for many decades, they still strive to be at the cutting edge of military technology and their vessels, weapons and fighting methods are inferior to none but the enigmatic Jovians.
Our society is very regimented, and it is like that because to survive what our people had to go through, that was required. Our homeworld was stolen and our people slaughtered. Our existance here today is because we fought for it, unlike any other of the Empire nations. We understand that the military is the protector, and guaranteour of our future. Paper treaties do not protect our people, Caldari Navy Ravens do.
Quote: The Caldari State offers its citizens the best and the worst in living conditions. As long as you keep in line, do your job, uphold the laws and so forth, life can be fairly pleasant and productive. But for those who are not cut out for this strict, disciplined regime life quickly becomes intolerable. They lose their respect, family, status, everything, and the only options left to them are suicide or exile. Although not xenophobic as such, the Caldari are very protective of their way of life and tolerate only those foreigners that stick to the rules.
This is where most seem to have the problem. Our society is competitive. The best will always rise to the top, and should something better come along, it is not only is duty to take over, its what is right. We do not live in a hedonistic society where peace and love rule, we are in constant strife attempting to do things better, cheaper, and faster.
Yes, that means that sometimes hard decisions are made that we don't like. But a true Caldari understands that it is for the good of the corporation, good of the people, and the good of our society to always have the best.
As far as blindly giving loyality - I think you misunderstand me. I give my loyality to the State, and our people. It is our people. It is our way of life. ------------------------------------------------
