Say I' m almost -10 and my ship of choice is a Rapier. Naturally I don't really want to risk my ship on a dare, but at the same time sometimes I need to travel through a .7 system to get from A to B.
Three main questions:
If I'm just rushing from gate to gate as fast as I can, am I going to get popped?
Do the instalocking sentry guns get involved when they spy an outlaw
Will cloaking actually save me from Concord/police commanders/whoever?

I think you can pull it off in a rapier, I know -10 ppl who have done it in force recons, I've also seen nano ravens pull it off.

I did move a Machariel via 2x 0.5 sec systems with -9.8 in sec status on test server (Sisi), but the ship was fitted with 4x Inertia Stabilizers II and 3x Best named nanofibers. And from 0 m/s to warp took 4 seconds in a big ass battleship.
So the faction police was to slow to get me there

rapier is possible. ive done it.
tho: a bit risky imo, there is slight chances of lagg / etc
fit it like:
2x Inertia, 2x Nano.

seems to be a lot about luck. shuttles obviously it's easy but once or twice i have even been insta lcoked in a shuttle before it could warp. at the same time i've done it in a mega before with nanos/i-stabs. don't risk it imo unless replacing it isn't a big deal.
is there no1 else who can fly it over for u and u just follow in ur pod?

Sentry guns won't shoot you if you have no crim. If you do , there will be concord spawns and you can't quite avoid them...
Empire police locks pretty fast , I never risk anything above atron / slasher , it's always popped anyway. Shuttles should get you through even 1.0 , however there are other problems to watch out for :
-Jump queues. It's an obvious one , but when it happens you better warp to a planet instantly (and keep warping from then on) ; it can cause serious trouble especially if some funny guy starts locking your pod.
-Session changes. If you warp around in a shuttle , you might reach the gate too soon after jumping in - so you're not allowed to jump yet. Again , warp to a planet immediately. You won't have to wait for long though.
-Gang changes. Evil and unexpected , they hold you for 30 seconds. Watch out when you're in a gang or being invited.
Undocking in highsec is a completely different matter , much more dangerous. Undocked people will lag the grid and possibly pod you if you don't warp out in time. When undocking , try to warp to the first celestial object in front of you (aligned to it) to increase your chances. You can also try to lay insta-undock bookmarks in highsec with your pod. Some stations have evil configurations that will cause your ship to bump them when attempting to warp to the gate.
Something that can help with grid lag is to set your autopilot to one of the gates , and activate it right when you dock. It will usually warp you fine when undocking in lower sec systems. Of course , you need to warp to zero to your destination gate again.
Remember : never undock in a hub station. It will get you killed.

I've lost an inty trying this before, so there's no guarantee that you'll be safe every time. Mind you, every time I step in an inty there's some apocalyptic event that happens and I lose my ship in a weird way, so maybe just ignore me

Seems that the racial police can insta-lock, but it's hit or miss. I lost 2 shuttles tonight because of the Khanid police. I wouldn't risk it unless you can easily replace the ship.

I ran the risk one day of trying to go through a 1.0 in a Drake I Stabbed up to the max (my sec at the time was -2.1 or something daft). I got scrammed, webbed and permajammed on decloak. I would have made it back to the gate if some nubbin hadn't bumped me off (not that I'm terribly bothered by that, I'd have done the same). But the fact that I was sat there for 15 painful minutes while they tapped away at my tank unable to do anything really really irritated me. It would have been nice to have had the chance to have fought back, popped them and been on my merry way rather than being permajammed.
But back OT, faction navies will occasionally instalock you if you're in a shuttle/inty, usually when you've got some expensive fittings/lewts in your cargo. C'est la vie. ------------ Request for Privateer Sticky! Keep the forums clean!

All down to luck m8, ive made the error of jumping into 0.5 whilst being -9.9 in a tempest and had to endure the lads laughing at me on TS as i crawled back to the Passari gate while the police were shooting me, made it though.
Once tried getting to Lowsec from Pator in an inty and lost it 3 jumps on my journey, its not like they phone ahead though and warn the police on the other side of the gate, WTZ makes it much easier now though i guess.

I've done it in shuttles, frigs, AFs, cruisers, Force recons and HACs and a vagacane.
It's easy to get through your first jump, then after that first jump I find they try harder to get you. Often finding they insta lock/scram you as soon as you go through that second high-sec system. Even my vaga died due to the second jump. I might have been able to got back through the gate with a quick burst of MWD, but I expected to be able align and warp, which it didn't.
I also recently tried to see if you could jump through then cloak in a recon (rapier) and then warp, I made the first jump and the second I got the 'you cannot cloak message' (something I didn't know about) and they got me before I had time to align. That was on the test server though I wasn't so ****ed off.

The main problem is this:
If you go through a gate, the Customs ships will take a few seconds to spawn and thus won't lock a totally istabbed/nanoed ship before it goes to warp. The other side of this is that if you go through a gate that already has customs spawned (I.E. someone else outlaw has gone through recently.) then they will usually instalock you.
My advice:
1)Practice insta cloaking, after a bit of practice you'll be able to cloak before you loose your jump cloak animation.
2) Hit warp AS SOON AS YOU LOAD. If you wait with your jump cloak on the customs ships will spawn and get you.
3. Scout the route first to make sure there's no pre spawned customs.
4. Fit an MWD. If you do get locked, at least there's a small chance to MWD back to the gate if you do get scrammed.

i have to say i didnt think it cud be done in a bs but when i accidentally bought a dominix in a 0.5 with a similar name to a 0.4 system that was near it i had to get it out :P . so i fitted nanos on it (inertyia stabs werent usefull back then) loads of shield extenders and undocked and clicked warp.....was almost in warp when they caught me. so i docked again and retried...got out that time and jumped out.
also note that the higher the sec status the faster they lock you

any bs can do it, as long as you fill lows with istabs and nothing else. istab geddon will warp faster than a shuttle.
you can also fit injected shield tank + mwd in case things go bad. navy is way too weak to kill a decently tanked ship... only real threat is other players.

A lot of people mention their insta-locking.
I've done quite a few trips to carebear space now, checking up on my RnD agents (carebearing ftw?) and I've noticed that if you stay cloaked at the gate and just sit, you DO get insta-locked. If you IMMEDIATLY warp out they don't insta-lock. Perhaps it was coincidence, but worth keeping in mind at any rate.

Depends on how lucky you are, I've been caught warping off a gate in a taranis before, instalocked and webbed. I wouldn't rely on anything bigger than a shuttle to be perfectly honest.

I have a small theory about faction police cruisers at gates. Normal patrol exists of 2 bs and 2 frigs from the faction navy. Those are usual a bit retarted. However faction police cruisers are a bit more agressive and will scram/jamm you. I think if you meet those at a gate (its very random) they will insta lock you.
Faction police might spawn if you hang around for to long somewhere, so the key is to move very very quickly and align fast.

I have made it through a few jumps in high sec whilst being a crim, here is how i did it.
Get a few m8s in disposible ships and who are crims too to jump in with you. Get them to uncloak first and when they are webbed scramed and taking fire go for it yourself. It worked for me. Good luck
