insanebe Caldari soni Corp Imperium Sonorumance	Posted - 2007.03.01 17:29:00 - [1] The EU and also other places will get a PS3 that relies on emulation software to play PS3 games as sony have removed the Hardware that is in the ps3 in order to reduce production costs ..... ......result is that only a limited number of PS2 games will be playable on the PS3...through downloads of emulation software.... ......the nightmare continues ..... don't over estimate the power of the playstation seems to be the catchphrase of the day knowledge is power.... guard it well

It will run some games of an emulator but won't be fully backwards compatible for either PS1 or PS2. So basically Sony have stripped a few parts to keep the cost down.. for no reason other than greed. Oh and to top it all off, Sony will charge ú117 more for the 60GB version than was originally planned. What it boils down to is that there is now no excuse anymore for European PS2 owners to not buy a Wii or 360 since PS3 probably won't play Okami GoW and all the other great titles anyway.

PS3 have removed the emotion chip from the PS3 and are instead relying on software to emulate the PS2 games some 50% of them thats over 1000 EU games. Using the software emulation there are rumours that they will be using it to upscale the games so that the will be able to able to play in HD! Personally i dont give a monkeys if its backwards compatible or not. If your worried about it it means you already have a PS2 so why complain you can still play your games. The industry needs competition, it needs at least two large companies slugging it out, in order for them to give 'US' the gamers the best tech and games. The minute one becomes dominant over the other (Microsoft in PC land) They can set prices and the quality of the next generation of hardware and dont have to worry about a compeititor bitting at there profit laden heels. Seriously you console fanboi freaks give it a rest. X360 will be awesome it will have great exclusives and a wonderful online system. The Wii will be unique and fun. and the PS3 will again deliver a whole host of memorable and fantastic games. We the gamers win out of all this. So why *****?!? Executioner Model Blackbird Model

So, what runs at launch will be all that runs period from the back catalogue. And, they then charge MORE than the US or Jap ps3's WITH the hardware emulator. I feel sorry for those who've preordered and intend to use it to play ps2 games. Edit: It's not the whole backwards compatibiliy that's really an issue, it's that Sony are taking hardware out to make the console cheaper to produce, yet charging MORE for the EU release in general.
