Okay
After the polite prompt to download the new launcher.
I did and it has lost all my settings.
So I saw the locked posting with the mention of the hidden video of what to do.
That was great.
EXCEPT.
There was nothing in this profile menu to drag and drop over.
So where do I look to find these settings and can they be manually loaded.

yes you can copy the settings manually but i forgot where the old launcher stored them since i have done that a long time ago when the new launcher was still in beta.
how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Click on 'E' on top-right then 'Client Settings...' |

Okay
Thanks for the help.
But after following the instructions above and Searching all the Hard Drives on My PC I have no such files that contain 'tq_87.237.38.200' in their name
So now what???
If this is to be rolled out to everyone.
It really needed to be tested first and made automatic!!!!! |

Well after a further half a day wasted.
Absolutely no luck in finding these weird name 'Settings' files that are suppose to inhabit the menu you press 'E' to get.
But I did find the old launcher.
Firing that up I found it still had all my account settings.
So dumping this half-arsed new launcher until you produce one that works automatically and does not need a degree in computer science and a couple of days trawling the depths of file system to try and get to work.
Eight out Ten for style, minus Several Million for practicality. |

Okay
I have now downloaded Launcher 1045952.1992
It is still refusing to load or find the Profiles for my 2 accounts.
Logging in I am presented with the movie and all the training bits and one of your lurid attempts at colour scheme all in full-screen
Pressing 'E' and selecting 'Client settings' shows Source: Default & Target: 'Default' (Which is I must admit is better than last time when they were both empty)
Hunting "%localappdata%/ccp/eve" finds me one folder of Settings_Default
Launching with the old launcher gives me all my settings for both accounts, Black UI, different sized windowed screens, etc...
So where the hell have you hidden my settings.
Why did not you not create a launcher that could just automatically transfer the settings.
At the moment it looks as if I will have to use the new launcher to update EVE and the old launcher to launch EVE

After you log into the new launcher, you can see a little cog-wheel besides your account name. Hit that to enter the profiles. In there, you can go to manage profiles. You should find your old settings under 'Migrate old clients' in the left window. Drag them over to the right window. When that is done, your settings are available to the new launcher, but you will also have to select them for your account to use them.
Also see the helpdesk article: Launcher Migration Tool info.

Okay
Following your instructions above and looking at the link.
Pressing the 'Cog' I get a choice of 'Default' - Launching with 'Default' loads the movie, full screen, lurid colours etc..
Opening the 'Manage Profiles' from the 'Cog' gives me a choice of 'Tranquillity' Source: = 'Default' and Target: = 'Default'
Copying 'Default' from 'Source:' to 'Target:' gives me a new profile called 'Default_1'
Launching with 'Default_1' - That also loads the movie, full screen, lurid colours etc..
Going back and launching with the 'OLD Launcher' - Still actually loads all my settings for both Characters.
The only difference with the new launcher from my previous posting is now is a new programme window pops up called EVE Loglite - Listening.
(From a quick look it's a very nice event logger, unfortunately no hint on where my settings are even if I just select Red or Yellow events, saved a copy of the log if you are interested)
Plus the good news is the old launcher is still patching.
So I will be dumping the new launcher again until you make one that works!
Hint, Hint it finds my settings and loads them |

This confused me too; why does the new launcher not default to using the imported settings? I didn't expect it to, having imported my settings, start me off with the movie and a whole new color palette :)
As far as possible, this should be a "forehead install". You should be able to click "OK, OK, OK" and have the game launch exactly as it used to, only with the new launcher instead of the old one.
If you can't automate that, then guide the user with a prompt - "We have imported your old settings, would you like to use them?" or if there was more than one then ask "Which of them would you like to use?".
Help us to like the new launcher :)

Thank you CCP Darwin for trying to help.
But I already tried the video, it was the 'Hidden Video' mentioned in my first post.
There is NOTHING to copy over apart from 'Default', NO Files with weird names as you have in the video or ANY of your advice.
All I have showing is a file called 'Default' and it gives the default settings even if you copy it over from 'Source': to 'Target'
Hunting "%localappdata%/ccp/eve" finds me ONE folder of 'Settings_Default'
The main problem boils down to:
- The only settings file I have is called 'Default' it gives the default settings!
- I got no message on install saying 'Do you want to migrate your settings'
- Manage Profiles gives me Tranquillity, Singularity or Duality and NOTHING else
- Searching my Computer shows no files with a name that includes '_tq_87.237.38.200'
- Uninstalling the New Launcher and deleting its folders and then reinstalling makes no difference
- I do not have any settings files where YOU say they should be!
- The old launcher finds and uses MY settings!
My set up works with the old launcher, it does not work with the new launcher and I do not know why. I assumed that you knew how YOU set up the system so would write a launcher that would KNOW where things are.
The Current New Launcher CANNOT find my settings to allow me to transfer them. The New Launcher is NOT showing me anything to transfer and I cannot manually find anything on my PC to manually transfer.
I think that about sums it up! |

Hi,
I had similar issues. They way it's been set up isn't very intuitive to me.
I think the problem you are having is you are copying the "Default" settings from your old launcher (which has your good settings in it) to a new name on the new launcher, but you have not seen that you need to then tell the new launcher to use those settings in a completely different menu.
This was the case for me, at least.
If you copy "Default" from the old launcher to "Default_1" or whatever and then delete "Default" on the new launcher so that only "Default_1" remains you may find your problems are solved. DO NOT delete "Default" on the old launcher as you may need that in the future.
I hope that has been of some help! |

Cheers Bad Bobby for trying to help
But I have already tried copying over and launching with 'Default_1' in fact I am at 'Default_3' and have deleted all the previous versions.
All to no avail
But the old launcher is still loading my settings even if the new launcher still refuses to play!

Hi All
Well The 'New Launcher' just downloaded a new version called 1069348.1031.
The 'Source:' in 'Client Settings' is still only offered the Default Profile and all the variations of Default Profile gained by following all the above ideas & instructions on how to transfer my settings or fix the loss of my settings.
So logging in using the 'New Launcher' still gives me just the 'Default' as you the vanilla game settings no matter which of the Default profiles I choose!
While logging in with the 'Old Launcher' still gives me all my settings.
Please can you tell me where on my PC is the file holding my settings hides.
The 'Old Launcher' can find it but all the versions of the new Launcher so far are still totally and utterly unable to find or offer my settings as an option to adopt as a profile for my accounts.
Note: I have tried all the advise in this thread and all the others in the Launcher section.

The move to wine totally sucks. I thought it should only effect the login, but now the overall graphics are slooooow. It now minimizes the play window when I try to click on my music player (to skip a song). Stupid. And it still requires a complete re-boot to switch characters!!!! Argh! Come on guys. Its only been ten !@#$ing years. Can't you at least fix that? |
