The perfect ambush tool :)
As I see it, they would come in sizes much like mobile warp disruptors and would use the same mechanics in regards to deployment, size etc. As for functionality, if you're outside the field you can't see in, and if you're inside you can't see out. Imagine anchoring a large one over a stargate; hiding damage dealing ships from your gang inside one; imagine approaching an asteroid belt and suddenly finding yourself in one full of hostile ships!
The possibilities are mouth watering...

as if cloaking wasn't potent enough already.
not signed, I'm afraid. I'm campaigning for ways to counter cloaking at the moment, not more ways to abuse it. ***

Definintely not signed, cloaking is quite adequate the way it is now. It has it's uses but IMO, not overpowered as you idea would propose, the problem it would cause is that it would be TOO perfect.
Stitcher: Any anti cloak method is going to nerf cloaking into non-existance. I would only advocate anything that makes a cloaked ship practically useless as a combat weapon. A cloak should only be used as a means of escape or slipping past sentries at gates etc. At most using them for ships to set up Cyno fields to enable cap ships to jump is acceptable. I feel that the introduction of the Covert Bomber was a big mistake. --

I'm NOT campaigning for counters to cloaking, I think it's fine the way it is...but even I think this is a bad idea...sorry. ---
I don't mind you disagreeing with me. Just don't say I don't have the SKILLS to comment. |

How about a capital class cloak drive - specifically, I'm thinking about the Titan here.
A highslot module with extremely high fitting requirements, that can deploy a cloak "bubble" much like an interdictor bubble, which expires after a certain time. Or perhaps a cloak generator that consumes vast amounts of cap but can be used to cloak all ships within a certain radius, for a limited period of time. In each case, ships under the cloak cannot target outside the cloak & vice versa.

Edited by: Otto Maharg on 15/03/2007 23:37:43 I think a cloak bubble would be great, if you limited it to a capital/logistics support ship and made it burn an expensive fuel.

Can you feel the necrophiliac love?
This would be a fantastic addition to the eve universe. Some of the possible uses could be:
Hiding fleets, Hiding mining ops, ...and many, many more.
