All I know definitivly is the Moros has better point defense with it's drones.
Does the pheonix have a specific advantage over the moros that has real effects?
I am caldari spec'd and starting off towards one or the other, but there isn't much difference in training time.
Also are dreads ever used to kill battleships or is their use almost always restricted to killing POSs / other capital ships?

Phoenix has the advantage of being able to choose its damage type.
Dreads can be used to kill battleships yes, but without support they are not all that effective at it. -----

While I'm at it, I may as well ask how the revelation stacks up? I'm sure no ammo requirements are useful in a dread. If I recall correctly the stats make it look like it would have the strongest tank as well.

Your pretty much right there, alot of people consider it to be the best dread for pure pos pewpewing. -----

Imo, Dreads are POS poppers only pretty much, sure they can be used for other things, the Moros' drones are deadly, but if you want deadly drones, just get a thanatos. ------------------------ Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. -Albert Einstein |

The Thanatos doesn't have a drone damage bonus, so if you want drones, a Moros is needless to say better. 200-250% better, actually.

Gallente Carrier Skill Bonuses: 50% bonus to Shield and Armor transfer range per level 5% bonus to deployed FightersĘ damage per level
Besides which, the moros can only use T2 heavy drones, 5 of them, the thanatos can use 15 fighters with max skills. ------------------------ Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. -Albert Einstein |

Drones and fighters are 2 very very different things. Drones can actually kill things. While fighters can have a very hard time tracking anything and like to warp off with your target.

Also the Moros can have drones and then some of the most damaging guns in the game, whereas the Thanatos is stuck with just fighters whcih only out damge the Moros's drones by bout 350dps (I think).

However if a Moros goes up against a Thanatos, the Thanatos's fighters will get shredded by the Moros's drones, and the Moros has a much easier time breaking the Moros's tank, whereas no carrier will even come close to breaking the tank of a seige mode dread.

The Revelation has the ****tiest tank once you factor in the fact it loses 20-40% of its cap on its guns alone. That means you start with LESS cap then the other Dreads. (Same with Moros though)
Get a Moros or a Phoenix, tbh.
Stay out of my sig, it's not funny. Thanks for proving my point. |

No, he's saying drones will have no problem killing the Fighters.
