You know, eve has gone imho down hill of late. Why you may ask well theres a list of things that i could go through but for a reminder of some of the things in game that make PVP crap
1) Lag 2) nano ships 3) GM involvements
1) when i first started playing eve there were battles between fleets of 300 each side and there was very very little lag, the screen loaded you saw targets and you were able to enjoy the fight and have fun.
The current issues arent to do with fleet sizes, you cant load screens, you find your self in a station with out seeing who shot you, what action was going down and lose and ship plus fittings that takes time to replace. This is no fun and before anyone says 'stop blobbing' well this is happening in battles between 50 - 50 not exactly a blob ! Lag is killing pvp. Fleet battles are i believe one of the best fun things anyone can participate in and its being destroyed by lag. This then leaves little option for smaller gangs of highly skilled pvpers (groups of no more than 10) which then gives disadvantage to newer/younger players because these gangs are usually consisting of several highly skilled pilots flying top end ships with top end mods and what not. No problem for me i can do this but eve will lose a considerable number of players who cant join in the small skirmishes because they lack the skills, in fleets they can theres a role for everyone regardless of skills !
2) nano ships - before anyone comes back with lame responses on this, they are simply pawnmobiles, its a fact. I have seen nano bs' traveling around 10k m/s this shouldn't be possible. It is obviously wrong, no bs should be able to go faster than a ceptor ! Those of you that say, plan, have the right equipment to counter the threat obviously dont have much of a clue or obviously are the nano pilots yourselves.
Anyone tried fighting 2 nano bs alone ? before nano ships it was highly possible for 1 bs to take down 1 of the 2 bs before being destroyed themselves. In some cases the lone bs could take out both, atm 1 bs can NOT win against 2 nano bs regardless of the skills fittings and wot not... Nos doesnt need nurfing, what needs nurfing is the fact that a ship can scram you at 30 + km away orbit you at silly speeds and your guns / missiles dont hit jack and they pop at you.
3) GM involvements
enough has been said about this issue but this has destroyed my confidence in the fact there could be impartiality and unfairness in the game, its the haves and have nots and who knows what and gains unfair advantage. Rumors of possible GM involvement in another alliance are surfacing at the moment and if this is true well... wtf is the point of playing eve any more.....

Edited by: Svenstaro on 03/03/2007 02:48:50 What are you trying to achieve? Please take no offense here but most of the guys who read the forums are aware of the situation since it gets posted and summarized the way you've done it at least once a day.

If I were to link to every thread dealing with these issues already I would be here all night. We know, the devs know and it's being dealt with.

That "rumor" is missing some critical information.
a) The person accused became a GM this January.
b) He almost completely stopped playing his character due to this, and gave his titan to another player in the alliance. Since he just became a GM, there's very little way he could have abused his position, especially as he's not playing on his main much anymore at all due to his new job.
It seems quite clear to me that the "exposure" of this GM was out of maliciousness only, as, unlike the BoB-Dev fiasco, there's nothing to expose other than his character, which will now force him to abandon what he's spend 3 years doing, for nothing.
I find it really silly that people expect CCP to not hire experienced players as GMs. Isn't that exactly what people say they want from CCP, to hire experienced GMs who can make good decisions?

I beg to differ ..... some inside information was given by him to his alliance in a recent meeting.....for example issues about constellation sovereignty stuff and issue about a bpo that this character sold for a few billion knowing certain changes where happeing - this character is a Titan pilot, an Alliance leader and a GM... How do you spell conflict of interest again?

Apparently, in the eve boards it's spelled "Tinfoil Hatting". Out of curiosity, what would it take for you people to be happy with CCP? Fire the entire staff and hire WoW's support staff? ----- /ash Fancy Sigs are for Fancy People |

i fully agree with what you say about lag, it's horrible and has been for months. nano ships... oh well.
gm involvement: it has happened, ccp is trying to make it undone, ccp installed an internal controls department. as i said in another thread, ccp is learning as they grow because as they come bigger such things happen.
it has happened in other games too, it happens in other games and doesn't even get public. ok, eve is a persistent world where things you do today affect tomorrow, but still: chances are it won't happen anymore because ccp is closely monitoring their employee's activities. of course it isn't guaranteed that ccp knows all their employee's accounts and with enough tinfoil one could believe that the internal controls dudes can be corrupted too :p furthermore, just go kill bob and punish them :p --

What is the OP trying to achieve??
A: Uh.... A BETTER GAME? WITH FEWER BUGS?? AND EQUITABLE PLAY-BALANCE OF THE FIELD OF COMPETITION THIS GAME THRIVES ON....
There are only two kinds of players that are not opposed to "in-game" interference by CCP employees..... THOSE THAT ARE IGNORANT OF THE FACT THAT THEY DO, AND THOSE THAT ARE BENEFITTING BY IT.
