I keep getting like a 2 to 3 seconds pause every 30-40 seconds. Its not bad game still great and playable. But its a hard lock pause, total freeze of entire game.
I have a nice comuter and have 0 problems witb any program or any other game. I'm running a 1950pro got a gig of ram, a 3ghz cpu. game is run on a 10k rpm raptor drive. I mean theres no reason for it. I have all latest drivers and 0 other problems.
I do run at 1050x1400 rez with max all, and 4xaa 8xaf...... I could go 6x aa and 16af easy if i cared to change my standard settings which i dont cause i feel this setting is good for all games, any game, any time, without haing to swap settings.\
Whats the deal? I have a 1.5 gig swap file on a different drive even! It is like totally set to kill all games, but this freeze ****es me off.

Edited by: Svenstaro on 03/03/2007 03:09:15 I hear it's because of the overview refreshing, I've got the same issue btw. Decent PC here as well. And it's not the PC because technically speaking the game continues and you can measure it by reading out your graphics cards output, you will see it renders frames at a steady rate all the time. Problem is, the complete UI locks up because it fetches data from somewhere which takes time.
Talk about threading..

Try clearing the EVE cache folder (just the subfolder called machonet or something). Helped me out when I experienced the same thing.

Also, you may want to check and see if you have a joystick or gamepad enabled. I have heard of games having a hang-up glitch like that when your PC keeps looking for a joystick that isn't there. I'm not saying that's the case, but I have seen more than one similar situation solved by that.

There's also a weird option somewhere in... general settings I believe. Natural point somethingorother...
Enabling it causes eve to lag if you don't have a natural point headset.
If you don't know what that is, it means you don't have one and it should be unchecked.
*I made the above post with the full understanding that I would probably be flamed for my opinions.* |

Are you running normal internet connection or wireless? I had a problem back when I used to play BF2 and had a wireless connection, I'd get a freeze every 10-15 seconds saying 'Connection Error' or whatever it was. Used to happen with EVE too, but not as often, or as badly. -----

Try running something like http://www.pingplotter.com/ see if you got any problems, my AV still updates even when switched off which can be a pain. try running with sound disabled helps (in options not just turning speakers off)
