Basically I have been using Vista 32bit Ultimate since it was released and EVE has been fine apart from the occasional blue framework issue when running 2 clients.
Anyhow, since the small patch last week EVE will not even run without getting a blue framework error, usually at the entering station point.
The only way to resolve it I have found is to run the game as an administrator. So I can still play but this patch has obviously changed something which requires elevated priveledges and which previously worked.
Oh.... and considering how much loving CCP give Microsoft and vice-versa why are you not testing this game on Windows Vista?
My setup: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2Gb RAM Windows Vista 32bit Ultimate Nvidia 7900GTO Dual Mon (I always run EVE in a window)

So I guess there's no issue then
There IS a problem, and just because you are not seeing it doesn't mean its not happening.
What I'm saying is that as soon as I applied the patch, EVE didnt work unless run as admin.

I'm having a problem too. This is on 3 different computers, running both 64 and 32-bit versions of Vista Ultimate. EVE has been nothing but perfect on Vista (I haven't tried running 2 clients simultaneously though...) until the latest patch. As soon as I select a character, Data Execution Prevention shuts down Blue Framework because it is doing something funky with the memory. The curious thing is, I can exempt eve.exe from DEP, but NOT the blue framework application. Vista says that executable cannot be exempted from DEP.
Starting EVE with admin privs doesn't work for me. It's all DEP over here...

I could not launch EVE this morning unless I ran it as the Administrator. Also, screen caps and capture portraits are not working anymore it seems. Process seems to work in game, but the capture folder lacks any images. I am on Vista Ultimate. --

My vista install is vanilla so everything is on including DEP and UAC. I have changed my EVE shortcut and ticked the always run as administrator and no more probs.
However.... based upon another thread I added the VOICEENABLED=0 key to my prefs.ini file within the eve cache folder.. I have just removed this line and I get the blue framework issue again when entering station! Looks like the workaround is found!
So for me, I have to add the VOICEENABLED=0 to my prefs.ini file AND run as administrator to make it work. This is entirely repeatable!

When I moved up to vista (got to love free copies handed out by your uni) I did have a minor issue with the blue framework thing.
When the error occured and I clicked on the message saying there was a problem, I was given some information on a security system called either DEP or DPE (DEP is more likely, think it Data Execution Prevention). From what I gathered it mentioned halting programs when windows thought they were doing something unusual and potentially a virus or some other sort of nonsense.
After disabling this security "feature" all has been well in Vista. I can't remember the method to do it, but if you google "disable dep vista" (or DPE if that doesn't work) you should get instructions to open the command prompt, type in a command and restart your machine.
Hope that helps.

I have the same problems, "CCP Blue Framework" error each time I try to log on.....CCP totally worthless - no response to several petitions. I am unable to run EVE even as admin.

The only weird thing I've noticed about Vista, I bought a new Core2 Duo with vista-ultimate preinstalled. I downloaded a new client to the box and fired it up. After getting into the station and undocking I noticed that all my bookmarks were lumped into the default folder. I did have to turn off the sound settings and shut the tutorial off. My guess was that the cache folder needed to be copied over from the other machine. Went into Program files (x86)\CCP\EVE and guess what? No cache folder. I did reset my my default video settings and they have taken effect. Where in the heck is the PREFS.INI now that I'm running under vista? I'd like to make a few other changes too but overall I've been successful with vista so far.

Edited by: Grez on 16/03/2007 22:19:45 Some things you need to know about EVE & Vista.
EVE will not function properly without administration privilages (Right click eve.exe, compatibility tab, tick Run as administrator). This is needed to save portraits to the HDD, as well as log certain things.
You need to run RedistD3DXOnly.exe in the /bin/ directory once, to install some files for EVE to use.
Once this is done, EVE should run perfectly.
And for those of you stupid enough to make petitions...
