"The Local chat channel still exists. Some day it might disappear but there are multiple issues with just taking it out. There is also discussion of removing it only in 0.0 and forcing people into constellation chat. That would of course make certain systems tactically more important than others. The issue of cloaked pilots showing up on local still needs to be addressed as well. System scanning could be used to address some of the issues related to the local chat channel. We would also like to add an optional news ticker which could help replace some of the functionality of local chat and make your local area of space feel more alive and unique."

the disadvantages far outweight the advantages imo.
i can see 0.0 becoming very boring and less combat overall taking places because the element of suprise will be lost unless your a cloaker.
its going to be impossible to suprise any gate camps/fleets

IF covert cloaking devices become a T1 bpo it would be ok i guess. Make T2 covert better or something.
Still 0.0 would become even more boring.
Rat,rat rat. Onoes guy in local, press cloaky and tadaaa no risk. Wanna hunt people, use recons. Anything without a cloak will be utter and utter crap.
/edit: make T2 bs use a covert cloak and the game is *officially* destroyed. Exept for macrominers and carebears offcourse. They'll love it. But 0.0 pvp is dead than.
