Ok i recently got to level 4's and i've been doing ok so far. Then I got to this mission.... I had over 70% resistances across the board and had 2 armor repairers going. And i was dead pretty quickly. From what i've read so far its also a bad idea to not do this mission right away and i had waited an hour.
So what i want to know is, is there anyone who can solo this in a Dominix and if so what are some good strategies to doing this. Thanks,
Sharasa

A lot of people consider this the hardest mission (a lot also seem to consider "the blockade" hard, but that's another matter entirely). My personal advice is to just skip this one, there are plenty of missions which are less frustrating and more profitable (considering everything, including time to complete and losses!)

Edited by: Sharasa on 03/03/2007 20:46:42 i haven't done missions very long in eve and it was also the first time i have ever been warp scrambled. if i got my resistances above 80 and had 1 warp stabilizer would this be safe? also still wondering if anyone has managed to complete this in a dominix. thanks,

I remember doing it a long time ago in a domi and got pwned.
Tisa dead easy and well paying mission in my shiny Vulture-soontobe-Nighthawk.
So i guess the person mentioning resists is right. at 90% for kin/therm. tis easy :)

Anytime you release drones early in Enemies Abound 1/5 you get full stage aggro. If you can manage to kill the first 2 waves of spawns without drones you should be alright. I'll explain how I do it in my Raven. Probably not useful information but you may pick up a useful tip for your next try.
Warp in. Get aggro from 5 frigates and 2 bs's. I take out the 2 bs' then the 5 frigates. I then move out to about 50km. Target the lone Orion, open fire and a section of the remaining enemies come for me. I think this usually includes 3 bs' plus some cruisers and frigates. At this point I don't bother with cruisers or frigates when the bs' are dead. I target the remainging bs' and bring my drones out to start mopping up everything that is left. I start moving back towards the can with the dudes concentrating my fire on the bs's. Fairly straight forward mission when you have a good tactic for it. If/when you make a mistake and get full stage aggro early it's a real ***** :P

If the 5 frigs at the warp in give you problems since they have fairly high dps if you dont have a great tank, load 1 or 2 Thermal Large Smart Bombs. With two you can get rid of them in about 3-4 pulses and then deal with the 2 BS's normally. I find I don't use my Nos much on this one since I like to make some room between myself and the blob before I agro it.

I fly Domi lvl 4 missions. Have not had this one, I think.
What caused your demise? Could the reppers not keep up, or was it lack of CAP? If the reppers (T1 or T2?) can't keep up, you could improve your Repar Systems skill, and/or get better ones, faction maybe. If your CAP is not enough, also improve relevant skills, and consider CAP charges.
When doing a mission prepare and learn which ships can web and scramble you. There are many sites with mission info. Try to take those out first. I fit T2 Med Hybrids, whit Spike ammo frigs pop easily enough at long range(60+ km). When NOT entering a Deadspace warp to location at a range, which lets you use sentry drones. With the right setup they can reach 100+ km. Mind, I never use such extreme setup, I have no need for it. Um...you can use sentries? Else you should consider NOT doing such missions. When you enter a Deadspace you do not know the first time, if you have range or not. Many such missions do not aggro immediately and allow you enlarge distance as long as you do not aggro yourself by shooting a ship. When you have range release the sentries. To give you another indication: I use Med and light T2 drones, and sentries. Make distance, use sentries, when targets get within 30 km scoop sentries release meds or lights(frigs!) and start moving away. The targets are now not a blob but a string and more easy to handle. I have heavies with me, but rarely use them. I usually have an afterburner, but noway the resists that you have. Up until now I have not needed it. Hope this helps. Oh, BTW, using Caldari ships is for Watjes... ----- FreeHansje

Frankly with the drone aggro (bug), I don't see any chance of completing this in a Domi that relys on drones to to it's damage. I could not tank the first stage full aggro in my CNR with Gist B-Type XL running permanently + Amp(I tried and luckily was only scrambled by one frig :-)), so I don't see it being done with a Domi Dual LAR running. Some missions are just borked for Domi unfortunately. The one where you should not wait is the 5th one (though this has been changed iirc), it used to be that the timer for the waves to spawn started as soon as you accepted the mission. So if you waited half an hour, you would have 5-6 waves spawned and would get pretty much instaowned if you warped in. I strongly suggest bringing a friend with remote rep if you want to do this (or check out the drone aggro, kill 2-3 spawns without drones, then go refit and do the rest).
Hope this helps

Probably because he doesn't loot or because he values his gal/minnie faction standing.
These missions are kinda hard and wreck your standing with gal/min thoroughly, but if you want to and can do them (easy in a well-piloted faction ship) they are very rewarding since you get great bounties in the form of tags, and also decent loot. --------- There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Kestrel

I never tried this mission with a Dominix.
But I guess it is problably the worst choice of ship when you want to rely on drones in this mission! Use a megathron instead if you got the skills for it (very likely).
I advise having one thermal smartbomb with you and definatly an afterburner. Only use the smartbomb when you got enaugh distance from structures as otherwise you may accidentaly trigger a whole level aggro (in which case you die).
Fit the ship so that you fight close range (blaster with anti-matter) and that it has a realy good thermal/kinetic tank. Take the serpentis side, which for galente ships is definatly the easyer path to take.
You dont need to use the AB all the time, nor the guns and the smartbomb. This relaxes the cap consumption constraints a bit. Make sure you can perma run your tank and have enaugh spare cap after that to shoot, afterburn or bomb.
You can pack 5 heavy drones but only deploy them when you got full aggro of the remaining ships as otherwise, you are in trouble. They are only usefull to wrap things up fast at the end.
