Thann Starlinbow Minmatar Raging Phoenix Incorporated North Star Confederation	Posted - 2007.03.03 20:04:00 - [1] Sincere props go out to The Movement from North Star Confederation for providing us with a fun and smack-free fight last night in Ostingele. A class act, as far as pirates go, anyways. And now for the story. So there we were, a little fleet of 4 BS's, a couple BC's, an AF and an inty, looking for a good fight as we headed out of Stacmon. Our initial destination had been up towards Gyng, to kill some war targets of the people who had war-dec'd us, since they never came down to our home system after we spanked them the first time they came up. Unfortunately for us, our route took us through 1.0 space.. and some of us being slightly naughty when it comes to shooting people not outlaw but still pirates, we couldn't take the high sec route. So we headed down the 32 jump low-sec route. Low and behold, five jumps in we run across some of THEM and try to engage. Smartly, they run, although not before popping our AF which chased the Sleipnir to far out. We chase them back for a few systems, playing a bit of cat and mouse as their forces gather up, asthey'd been spread out over a few systems until we finally reach Ostingele. Now, it was about 6 or 7 of THEM (The Movement) vs. about 11 of us. I figured it was about a fair fight in terms of firepower, though.. as most of my folks wern't fully T2 equipped and Ostingele was THEM's home system. so I send my scout in and he's looking around for a while before finding them massed at planet 1 at 0. The inty gets popped and I say screw it, guys.. let's do it. So we all jump in, down a couple of pilots at this point.. and warp to the planet. The battle is on! Primaries and secondaries are called on vent and the two battlecruisers on THEM's side quickly are popped, but we take a couple of losses as well.. the fight is raging, guns blazing, tanks on.. I hear my pilots slowly dieing, but we manage to take out one of their BS's next. Suddenly, my poor Maelstrom is primary target of 3 BS's and they chew through my tank quickly.. I'm frantically spamming warp-to to get my pod out, I thought for sure they had my ship. Amazingly, I suddenly warp out. Well damn, didn't see that coming, especially at 40% structure. So I rep up and align back for the fight. It was a very close fight, as our earlier inty pilot had gone home and gotten his Domi.. as well as another pilot in his Tempest had come in on our side. But their two Maelstrom pilots we simply didn't have the firepower to dent the impressive tanks.. having lost 2 BS's and a couple BC's at this point.. and then a privateer Sleipnir showed up and started shooting us as well. And so I called my guys out. Amazingly, I managed to get my Maelstrom out a second time. I had been calling the whole time on Vent.. we had taken losses but so had THEM.. if we could only hold the field for looting rights it would be a net gain for us. Alas, it was not to be. But all in all, the fight was what EVE is all about. Everyone having fun and slugging it out, no smack-talk in local after the fight, just a round of 'gf's' and some nice conversation. My pilots were in high spirits, even though we lost the field and looting rights. My hat is off to THEM for standing and fighting against superior numbers (though admittedly the firepower was equal on both sides due to THEM's superior fittings :) ). We'll be back, Movement. Of that you can be sure! o/
