Edited by: dutchfreak on 18/12/2003 00:58:30 Just a little question (didnt see anybody asking this yet) The ore processing skills say in the description: "Specialization in Scordite (or others offcourse) processing and refining. Allows a skilled refiner to utilize substandard refining facilities at considerably greater efficiency. -5% Scordite refining waste reduction per level."
Does this count for normal refining facillities too, like at a base? Just wondering... would be nice if it does.
Hope to get some feedback on this, i searched at eve-db and so on too, but didnt get info about that. greetz Freak

it should work in conjuction with refining skills So it will give u the extra refining boost if u focus on 1/2 types of ore ----------------------------

im not sure but i think at some stage they are going to be diferent levels of station refine ability, and the new skills will compensate for that problem, well thats my take on it anyway! (Bought 3 of the lower end ores and am now training at my leisure)

o tested the new ore specific stuff (lvl 1 only) and i see absolutely no difference ------------------------------------------ reality is too small for human imagination |

Strange thing about these skills is that if you train it to just level 1 your WASTE factor is 0 on each respective ore refining. KEWL.
I hope it is not a bug

There was a dev post that said stations would eventually have various quality levels of refining equipment, and faction would also matter. So if you're out in Stain on a pirate station with a low-quality refinery and have a bad faction thanks to all the hunting you do, you won't get nearly as much ore per refine. These skills should help that...
Also, mobile refineries will supposedly be VERY inefficient, so these skills at high level will be a must for deep space operations.

The main thing I can think of is mobile refineries
They are meant to have a very low efficency so maybe this is there answer to peeps moaning about the 20% (or whatever it was) return on them

There's 3 columns in the refining:
You , We, Unrecoverable.
The processing reduces the unrecoverable. At L1 for ores like veldspar to pyro, it was enough to change all the unrecoverables to zero at refine efficiency 4.
Tested against a player with refine efficiency 5 and processing at 0...and I came out with more minerals in my yield. |

At the moment all stations are set to 50% refining efficiency I believe.
Once the substandard equipment element of the calculation gets thrown into the equation (once the devs have finished 'data mining') those mobile refineries that everyone was disappointed with suddenly become very good.
20% base efficiency + Refining 5 + Refining Efficiency 5 + Ore Processing 5 = 95% efficient refining with no WE TAKE factor.
Least I think that's how it will work. No doubt I will be wrong. ________________________________

Trained Omber Processing to level 1.
With Ref Eff at 5 the variance was about +1.5% return compared with pre-skilling. I would assume that these processing skills come into their own with less efficient refining platforms (MR etc).
