i purchased a apocalypse from a player only to find out that the ship that looked like a apoc and had the description apocalypse was in fact a omen. i was scammed into paying 100mil isk for a cruiser from a player named muze. i put a petition in and the gm responce was that they can do nothing about it. apparently this is a scam that is allowed by the gm's. typical screw the honest player and let the scammers get away with it. the constant lack of the gm's to stand behind the honest players leads me to think that the only way to play this game is to try and screw as many players as you can.

Never buy things you can buy on the market from another player in a trade window, that would solve this.

I'm sorry for your loss, but you will get NOTHING from posting on the forums, and you will get LITTLE sympathy. You should have checked the item info. There are many warnings all over that you should watch out for this type of scam. It's your own fault, next time you might now fall for it, eh?

Click the accept button before you give money.. Then do a Show Info on the item to make sure it right..
Once you are satisfied your getting the right thing.. Make sure the Accept Check is still there to show that he didn't pull a switch.. Then add the money and re-accept.

I do belive you're not to speak ill of GM's, speaking of GM's did castor slow down their tech 5 BS's like it did my tech 1?
Oh wait one moment I forgot the GM's are from Jove space. Is it too late to join the Jove Navy? I'm not fond of this "crappy" side of the galaxy.
About the following tag line, since castor...it's not quite as true anymore, apparently herring prices are rising on both sides of eve.
Stop griping about server instability and go buy an EVE mug!
Additionally with the purchase of each mug you will receive two(2) invisible Elves.

A trust scam is a legitimate buisness and if you can't right click on an object and verify it's attributes, why should you have it?

I wonder how many players have quit EVE because of these GM sanctioned scamms? I know of 2 in the last month.
I guess CCP must be on real healthy footing and have more than enough subscribers to be concerned about the odd 'fool' who trades via thier in-game market, gets scammed out of a months work, and quits

Edited by: Belzebuth on 18/12/2003 02:35:53 Ask for the ship to be repackage before you buy it (if there is a repairshop at the station).
That way you're sure that the ship is fully repaired and it's really what you see that you're buying

You always say that, if it's not scams then it's a m0o blockade. If it's not that, it's something else, always something else.

i agree. ccp has done nothing to protect the players from scams and huge losses due to game bugs. i personaly have lost several battleships to game bugs and always got the typical nothing we can do about it answer. i had logged off a character in a battleship when it failed to enter space. i logged in 5 min. later as another character on the same account and my bship was still flying in space. 5 min. later i watched a cruiser destroy it. i sent evemail from the second character to the first proving both characters were logged in at the time the ship was destroyed. as usual gm gave me autoresponce # 247. nothing we can do about it. thats why this game is loosing players by the thousands. i guess ccp don't need all those paying accounts. i hear this game will be dead in a few more months. good riddens.

the point is that the gm can see it was a obvious scam. they chose to do nothing about it. typical responce from support dept. on a game that is going under fast. how long before they loose another 4000 paying customers.

Is the seller in a credible corporation, does he have any references from previous buyers or any other means to prove to you he's a trustworthy seller? If not then don't use the trade window, it's just that simple, the GMs can't protect you from your own stupidity.

Oooh plz.. i have never seen so many f****g whiners anywhere.. not even Counter-Strike have so many whiners.. Just accept that some ppl are dishonest and CHECK the things u buy before accepting! Would u go and buy a Car for $100k you¦ve never seen or testdriven in real life?
Just think some before u do anything, it¦s simple i promise.
So get on with your life¦s both in eve and irl and accept that u cant trust a person, and if u cant handle that, then grow up and take a look around at the world and read the news!

Point is, scams are in the game whether or not they were meant to be from the start doesn't matter. It adds to the realism factor, it adds to the risk and it adds content to the game. You can't deny it. If you think about all the risks that are out there in the world, it really doesn;t seem like a big deal, and CCP do warn of scams and say a little common sense is needed and to Trust no one fully. i think they're totally in the right on this one.

You say that ccp do not rplace stuff due to bugs?
I lost a dom due to a bug, 4hrs later and i had a new dom
A friend lost a scorp due to a bug, next day there was a new scorp in his hangar
The above are the only two times that i have seen or heard (ingame) of ships lost due to bugs.
Exploiting some1s trust is not a bug....the GMs probably pi$$ themselves laughing when they see your petitions.
To prevent this type of scam all you have to do is ask the guy to package it first, pretty easy if you ask me, but som many of you fools seem to fall for it.
Btw, kahunna not trying to flame you or nuttin BUT you got scammed and lost 100mil, and that is bad enough, but then you come to the forums so you can tell people exactly how stupid you are...what gives?

Hey mate i feel for you - i fell for the "old" 10million shuttle scam which wiped out all my cash. As far as im concerned if this is a true to life simulation then why the fk didn't i get a chance to inspect my new ship inside and out before agreeing to the purchase for 10mill i would have expected to see some gold fkin taps and lap dancers as crew members. Anyway under law you have a cooling off period after a purchase that allows you to return the goods if you feel that they are not what was advertised or not fit for the job. Personnaly I think people that initiate this type of scam are wan**rs and should be kicked out of this game on their arses. I for one would fully understand if you packed up your account and left. As for all the people who go on about how stupid you are for falling for this type of scam well they can take a running jump off a tall cliff or admit that somewhere at some point in their lives they actually - yes actually - made a mistake due to a lapse in concentration or a lack of knowledge. Err yes i am bitter and twisted.

ok people, listen, and listen carefully...
A trade is a trade a trade doesnt care if u pay 0.1000000 for an apoc, or if u pay 1000000 for an single trit... A TRADE IS A TRADE if u buy a shuttle for 10000000000, its a trade... it can neverbe turned back, unless both sides agree...
it has nothing to do with GM's or CCP... other games have exactly the same rules concerning direct playertrades... they can never be reinvoked! never....
