These are words of the shaman ą..
A warrior I be The warrior is self confident and radiates an inner strength that stems from the knowledge that he/she has the experience and ability to deal with whatever he/she may face.
The warriorĘs familiar is the badger, one of the strongest woodland animals. Even when set upon by several dogs, it can hold its own. Badger is close to the earth and dwells within it, making elaborate setts underground. One of the lessons of the badger is how to maintain your integrity and strength when everything around you seems set on pulling you down and the opposition is overwhelming. Badger draws his power from the closeness to the earth. Badgers also know the secrets that reside within the earth, digging and delving into his underground home. He knows the importance of a retreat within.
The badger is a powerful familiar. He is an ancient dweller of Albion and knows all its secrets - the sacred places of the land and the energies of them all. He understands the power of all that grows within the earth. Badger is a warrior and it is the warriorĘs path he teaches.
The warrior may subject themselves to physical extremes to force there will and consciousness beyond the ordinary. We are all subject to many fears, and it is the warriorĘs purpose to seek them out and defeat them. It must be recognized that the body has its own fears ūfear of injury, fear of physical danger ū which are natural and proper. Without these fears, we would put our hands in the fire, crash our cars, or jump off cliffs. The body has an innate mechanism of self-preservation. It clings to life, thatĘs its job. The warrior may decide to face many physical fears to develop will and courage ūfear facilitates a change in consciousness; to conquer a fear facilitates the delopment of the will. To do something so dangerous that it may result in injury or death, however, is no part of the warriorĘs path, it is self-indulgence.
The self-respect of the warrior is won through trial and experience. It is never boasted about or used to inflate oneĘs ego. The warrior has personal integrity and treats others with equal consideration. The warrior is at peace with his/her self, his/he strength does not come from building a hard shell around her/his self that contains and suppresses all feelings and passions. If this is what you have done, you are called on to recognize that this is a weakness, not a strength, arising from fear of letting other people know the real you, thus giving them the imagined power to hurt you. The warrior has conquered these fears and cannot be hurt in this way.
