I think there is a general point missing in all the current discussions about the last patch. Meaning no offense to them, but the point is that CCP is just not good at providing PVE content. Many times in the past and like now CCP has introduced PVE content and that content (or all the hoops they had to go through to shove that content into a game not designed to be friendly to pve content) broke something else and required a whole lot or reworking.

Half the time, when CCP introduces new PVE, it breaks something fundamental about the game. Like how the AI changes a few years back turned into a whole lot of backtracking and fixing complexes, missions and anomalies and making compromises. How drifter incursions had to be constantly taken offline, the old faction warfare bug that allowed a few people to make actual trillions worth of isk, the old lvl 5 bug that let those missions appear in high sec, on and on and on I could go.

When CCP sticks to things it does well, like creating and modifying new ships and modules and providing tools for people to use to make content for ourselves in a sandbox gameplay fashion, these issues don't come up nearly as much. As an example, the most useful thing I've gotten in the last few years of PVEing isn't new AI or better sites, it was a module not even particularity intended for PVE, the Micro-Jump Drive.

And lets not even start to talk about how much time and real life money has been wasted on CCP trying to provide PVE content. After all these years of CCP stuffing the game with more 'content', most of us who PVE as a main activity in EVE are running missions, dungeons/complexes and anomalies that are 10-13 years old instead of the nifty new stuff like Incursions, Drifters, Burners, Epic Arcs and these Events.

That so many of us in the PVEing community would prefer to save a Damsel we've saved 10,000 times already or attack a pirate Rallypoint/Hub/Haven we've cleared 5,000 times before rather than deal with this new stuff should tell everyone something.
