Do this stuff on the defensive side for weeks like after you log in the first info you get ingame is which poses have been shot into reinforcement and when the system needs to be closed down with gate-camps to defend and recharge the poses and you know, what really sux. No big deal once, but 7 days a week. It wears an alliance down after several weeks, except you have a strange mentality and see it as fun.
Btw. I agree to what people said about planetside. I tried BFRs out for a week, was quite funny, but found them annoying after that, never bought that expansion and quit playing Planetside after some time. ___________ Muuuhhh !!! |

POS warfare exists because you need a way to express Soverignty. If you want to get rid of POS warfare, find another way to express Soverignty.
In the past, any roving idiot could capture a station if he found it undefended and had enough ammo. That clearly was not good enough.
Then POS's came along as a means to claim a system, and people were actually able to defend space. The existing POS warfare at least provides opportunity for defense and some security that your investments will still be yours tommorrow. It also forces your opponents to defend instead of just logging off till you're gone and taking the station back. But by limiting it to one system, it meant blob warfare in that system.
Perhaps what we need is a greater Soverignty area, something on the scale of a Constellation. For example, perhaps a Large Pos would give 1 'point' of Soverignty in the entire Constellation, 2 'points' in the system it was deployed. Perhaps a POS would exert diminshing Soverignty pressure based on distance (4 points in system, 3 points one jump out, etc.) Then an attacking force would have multiple targets to hit without having to blob everyone into the same system. Defenders would have to cover more space.
This approach also enhances things like Moon Mining and Ratting/Refining POS's, as they would also contribute to Soverignty. That builds up the economy of the entire area as well.
Soverignty should not be a brick wall that ends at a Gate. It should be a reflection of the culture of the people who call the area home.

Some suggestions to improve pos wars (only suggestions) Read all before commenting because they complement each other, each taken on their are pretty crappy ideas.
Systems with high material or strategic value should get tons of moons (100's ) Systems with low strategic/material values should get lots less moons (but I'd like to see at least 40 per system even at the low stage)
Make all poses 1 size (large) Remove fuel reqs except stront Reduce the max amount of stront able to be put in (24hrs)
Make dreads much cheaper (Carrier price or less )
Supposed Net Result: Sov = More Poses than other guy No Logistics except stront (yay!) Less blobbage because of more disposable dreads.
Im sure everyone has counter arguments and im looking forward to reading them, but please no flaming or situation commenting.

POS warfare is about as fun as jabbing un unsharpened pencil in your eye repeatedly...
0.0 combat is broken atm, not worth the hassle...
