I am not entire sure how the bounty system works in detail, but as the title suggests, can it possibly be exploited?
I am thinking of a scenario of 2 players working in collusion... Player A will go about griefing everyone and basically cause as many people as possible to place a bounty on him. When the bounty is high enough, player A will then hop onto a cheap/ newbie ship, launched into a location pre-arranged with Player B. Player B will then proceed to kill Player A, claims the bounty, and share that between the two playersą..
Is this possible?

Real pirates want to keep their bounty its like a badge of honor because you have to kill allot of people and some valuable stuff to get it really high. Most of us wont let a pod go if we can help it, not even to collect it ourselves.

LOL, thus, most pirates have self-put bounties, that includes the pirates with high bounties mainly (due to the lack of risky kills).

this does happen, but if your got a set of lg snakes in there it would need to be a very high bounty in order to make it worthwhile claiming.

I don't know why people even put bounties on peoples head.
Someone once put 500m on my head, all i did was jump clone out of my hg snakes pod my self with my alt. Jump back. Doubt ill ever do that again for anything else than 250m.

Edited by: Lord WarATron on 05/03/2007 11:41:56 Bounties are a joke currently. Until bounties are taken out of the first 40% of ship insurance, there is little point in placing bounties. E.G If you have a 1bil bounty, and lose a rokh which is insured for 165 mil, then the standard amount of uninsurace (40%) , which is 66mil, is taken from player bounty and given to the killer. This means the pirate gets 99mil insted of 165mil for his bounty, so there is still an incentive for the pirate to insure the ship.
If the pirate had not insured his rokh, then he basically gets nothing as the 66mil defaul insurance is going to his killer.
The pirate could kill himself to slowly get the bounty back - Let him. He would have to blow up so many ships to recover its not worth the timewaste, that producers will be kept in business and the bounty abusers gain is hardly worth the hassel.
But then again, this makes life a lot harder for breadline pirates. But thats eve for ya. --

just make big bounty rats unable to jump clone, that would atleast make them lose implants or not start pirating on their main.. body :p which would have some side effects.

Why should I, as a Guristas-allied pirate, not be able to clonejump to Guristas stations? _____________________________________________

Jump Clone around the entire universe if you want. However there should be a penalty for dying. The implants should be lost when a player is podded. Jump clones shouldn't be the insurance policy against implants.

never place a bounty higher than 5000. maybe 5013 or 5666 if you are superstitious.

Because some of your corp have -standings with Guristas due to running missions for Caldari State-based corps?
Don't get me wrong though, I've been all for some sort of official allegiance declaration thing for all major factions for awhile, but I don't see it happening anytime soon, or the ability to get jumpclones via personal standings instead of Corp. However standings are the only way for us to 'prove' ourselves to the NPC entities (this excludes AURORA events), and they look at us and the group we belong to, so technically, the Guristas wouldn't allow you to clonejump to their stations because your organization has not proven themselves to them.
But technically speaking, you can clonejump to a Guristas station, or any station really, just have to move a clone there first, then set your clone to activate there until you jump back to where ever. Having bounties affect clonejumping would be horrible though, and would make more sense for sec status to do it, but neither should happen. TBH, simply not giving an insurance payout to someone with a global criminal counter is enough. Afterall, you're not collecting insurance money on that Jeep you've just totalled during a bank robbery.
