Can get them from caldari navy, Currently can fly Dominix and a megathron. At about 5.8 SP all combat skills.
Been running level 3's in a brutix and they are getting boring and the need to for more isk is becoming more urgent.
What should i use as a marker for when to start lvl 4's? or would i be able to take em currently?

Start with Lvl 4 when loosing your ship does not hurt you. Especially with low SP this might and will happen on the one or the other mission. When you then can¦t easily replace the ship I¦d say you¦re not ready yet. That¦s probaly the most important trigger for Lvl4-ability.
On the other side the amount of SP doesn¦t say if you¦re ready or not as it depends on how the SP are distributed and what ship you¦re flying. Megathron in Lvl 4 is hardcore even with 30 mil SP. Dominix with 5.8 mil SP should be already possible if a big part of the SP is in Drones.

Also remember that some lvl 4 missions have (drone)mass aggro. If you can tank a whole room, while killing off rats, you can do most lvl 4 missions. I fly Raven myself and its almost easy. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many |

Ya my shield skills are crap tbh. im mostly gunnery/drones/armor. those are where most my skills are atm.
hmm well im kind of at a loss of what to do, i could sort of afford a loss but it wouldn't be the kind of brush it off affordability :(

I shield tank, so have no experience with armor tanking. T2 even faction reppers/resistance moduls would be that you should focus on. Faction is not cheap but its good. Its doable to do missions in domi and mega, but Raven is the alternative choice (easy mode).
And as so many people say again and again, don't fly what you can't afford to lose. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many |

If lvl 3 bore you start with level 4. 1) its a game and you are supposed to have fun. 2) with planning (eve-mission database) and cleverness you easily do lvl 4. Of course you can'T grind them (aka finish them in 20min) but when you kite, aggro spawn by spawn, take out scrambling frigs first, the webbing then the rest and are not too proud to warp out lvl 4 are easiyer than you might get the impression from forum whoring...
Be brave and try it

Heh ya ill probably try one tommorow, How can i identify the scrambling frigs etc as im good at keeping alligned, so i dont want to be scrambled.
Also how do i know how to keep myself from getting full aggro on drones, like knowing which missions to avoid in a domi.

The scrambling frigates orbits you at around 1-5km. Use (IGB) this goody mission info site and EVEinfo. The first mentioned is most up-to-date, but EVEinfo is also most usefull.
What I seen so far, is that the 25-30K bounty rats that scramble. Mean small ships to kill but not hard to kill. If you are scrambled, you can see a small blue pulse coming from them, while they orbit you.
IMO its important to kill the most damage dealing ships (BSs, BCs, elite cruisers)first. Frigates doesn't do much damage so I save those for last, when I stumble into those pests. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many |

Many L4s aren't really that difficult; you just need to avoid the harder ones like Angel/Guristas Extravaganza and Worlds Collide until you're more confident. The Dominix is fine for doing most L4s, with the exception of drone-bugged ones like Worlds Collide, which will be a royal pain. In my opinion the Megathron is very rarely an effective mission ship.

Edited by: Dolly Parton on 05/03/2007 20:54:27 simple answer, if your asking your not ready.
sorry but i had to say it. honestly though its true, all ships should be insured to platinum so losing the ship isn't that bad (i lost 2 bs in 30 minutes once). you using a T2 ship and afraid of losing it cause you don't have much isk then don't take it out.
Starting out you need to look at 2 things
1) who can i tank? i fly raven 99% of time now, but I have the skills now to run all the lvl 4 missions. before i did them like this amarr BS for blood and sanasha and raven for everything else.
2) who can i kill fast? see above same situation, i can pwn blood/sanasha in my apoc, wrecking shots of 1000+ in damage rule, but for anyone else i need my raven, angels = exp = not good for amarr.
now you fly gallente so ammo damage shouldn't be an issue, armor tanking is good for all but angel for me. go to eve info and check out what your facing first, if you have doubts bring a friend. one last thing, drones fully agress rooms for most missions, fyi
ps
once you can use a lvl 4 qty -20 go for it, you'll make more isk and LP then a lvl 3 qty +20 agent

Just my uneducated guess, but I would say when you can fit your ship with t2 modules (tank mostly) then your most likely ready. Ive been holding off on lvl 4s myself, until my tank is completely t2 and my drones are t2 as well.

When you find level 3s too easy and can fly a battleship you're ready to try level 4. Just be ready to lose a ship to mistakes. Kill the scramblers first and warp out at the first sign of trouble, you can always come back.
Here's a detailed guide to level 4s in a Dominix.
