Just a litle story about what happend to me last night. I whent to my usual lvl 3 Agent of the Republic Parliament. They can't be a militaristic combatoriented corp I thought to my self. First thing I get though it a combatmission.
Oh well, atleast it was an interesting mission, not your standard "take this bookmark, warp there, kill rat" kind of thing. Rather it was "Rats harasing travelers at gates. Check all gates in system and kill any rats encountered".
Now the slightly less fun thing I's I got my ass spaked realy good by the rats I found, lost my Rifter realy quick. (not complaining, we have been warned about harder NPCs so it's my own fault)
What is a realy annoying though and a real rolleplay killer is the fact that the sentryguns and concordships that was allso there did nothing about the pirates. Ofcours this has been the case ever since release. But as long as the system works this way I'll keep voicing my dislike for it. As said, it totaly kills rolleplay, at least for me.
So to summ it up: Thumbs up for slightly more interesting (and a lot harder) missions. The usual thumbs down for NPCs not interacting in a "realistic" way with each other. And an experiance more for me as it was my first shiploss |

Hmm, that's a grey area for CCP. The only plausible in-game explanation would be corrupt Concord police.

Edited by: Thrak on 18/12/2003 10:35:37 You gotta assume if they were already camping gates they had some way of dealing with the sentry guns.
So consider they had performed a local hack on em or something.
It makes sense that the sentry guns would not fire on them as they would not even be there if they did. |

I've noticed that too: quite a few other missions directing me to kill pirates, have turned out to have those pirates milling around stargates as well.
I appreciate the realism/storyline issue, but what's rather more worrying is: if there's a kill mission for some BIG rats, and they pop up at stargates, what if some poor sod in a shuttle is wandering past just as I get there and they blast him to dust instead of shooting at me?
Admittedly the "check all stargates mission" wouldn't hold for this, but, wouldn't it generally make more sense to move the bookmarked-kill-missions back to the middle of nowhere?

The other potential problem being player interference in the fight "stealing" bounties and/or loot drops EVE is a massive social experiment of human interaction facilitated by computer technology |

The other, slightly more realistic aspect to that is that the rats really WOULD be harassing travellers....
I got to stargate on one of these missions "to kill mercenaries" and found a 5K - ok, no prob, Thorax, things are fine.... then noticed his pal was a 30K firing heavy missiles and me with my mwd stupidly still on my ship... Thankfully I had some heavy drones in my bay for just such an emergency. I was out of cap in no time boosting my shields.
I also noticed that my sec rating hasnt' changed by even one 10th decimal place since Castor - having killed around 20 3K's for fun, and the aforementioned 30K and 5K

Keep an accurate eye on it via your corp button, and view member option. If you're in a NPC starter corp, this will take a LONG time to load, though.

35km... I suppose that would work. Me and my rifter was duking it out in the midle of the swarm (well, 3 rats might not be a swarm butt any way) orbiting the aktive target at 10km... Was toast real quick, but atleast I took one of them down with me! |
