People who are coming in at this topic with the whole "Well ginger had it coming to him" or "Well the guy who linked it deserves to die" should take a step back here.
From CCP's perspective. Ginger had a link in his bio which should a not particularily pleasing part of the human anatomy in his bio. Bio violated the EULA and other rules of Eve so bio was removed. Then the GM's had a choice, and they decided (assuming what tiller says is correct) that ginger is banned. I didnt see tiller say that it was permanent though, but i assume its a lengthy ban given the complaints. Why did the GM's ban him? Once the bio was removed the damage had been stopped, a suspension or a warning would have prevented it happening again (unless this isnt his first warning). It wasnt a dead body or something, it was a part of the human body that everyone has (and a bit that only some have, but thats not the offensive part i think). Is that really something perma-bans are tossed out over? The GM's would have seen the link, and with a little thought realised it was either put up maliciously to trick people into going to it, or it had recently been changed. A check to see that ginger's bio has been unchanged for a few days would have had them thinking the latter. I doubt they did this though... which makes you wonder why. No since i would think ginger and his corp have been hammering on CCP with the reason this happened. Either they are ignoring them or they dont accept that argument.
Thats worrying. I think people still have the baby ginger pic linked in their bio, linked to that place, and it should it come back they will be perma banned or given a lengthy ban like ginger. If all that is true CCP need to look a little closer at how the GM's enforce bio violations.
All that stuff aside i think this is funny. Ginger linked to a picture that somone who didnt like him hosted, themselves, on their own pc, and it turns out they didnt like ginger. Very few people actually looked at his picture but for those who were told it was disgusting and dont look at it. Those who werent told to look at it, well you can probably see worse in a mirror with a little bending... but yeah.
I dont think the person who changed the picture on the site should be banned. Its fair to assume he changed it on purpose, but we cant be certain, and he didnt have it in his bio. Maybe he thought he was catching a forum hotlinker somewhere. Who knows, he didnt do anything in game, ginger did and he should get a slap on the wrist and be laughed at for a while.
So in summary... meta-gaming humiliation good, perma-bans bad.
