I'm wondering if any real experienced pvpers could suggest to me a good setup for solo pvp in a drake. At the moment I am unsure what EW tackling mods to fit and how to use the slots most wisely for my tank.
Cheers for any help --------------------

My best bit of advice... dont use a shield tanker for solo pvp. You have to sacrifice to many mids for the "essentials" like ab, web, scram... now your down three tanking slots... get an armour tanker and youll be better off.
IMHO

At the moment I've been using:
7 Arby HAMs (they are cheap as arbalests go)
1 MWD 1 Web 1 20k Scram 2 Invul IIs 1 LSE II
1 BCU II 1 DC II 1 Inert Stab 1 PDS II
Filled in lower resists with two resist rigs. Still have an open rig slot that I am debating on. And the low slots are ever changing, trying to find a setup I really like.
Pick your targets carefully. Avoid nos boats that you won't be able to break before they drain your cap, because HAMs are going to leave you in nos range every time.

I havn't had much problems with the mobility of a shield tanking drake with this setup, but have lost a few targets.
Anyway the setup; 7 heavy missile launcher II 3 l extender II 2 invul II 1 warp disruptor 2 bcu II 2 shield power relay II
3 purger rigs/2 purger rigs + 1 extender rig
Perma tank sentrys pretty easily

I was thinking today about:
7 HAMs
1 MWD 1 20 km scram and 4 LSEs
3 BCUs and 1 PDS
no idea if that even fits or how well it work though...
Kind of like the Triforce in Zelda, only not quite as potent.

there is no such drake, unfortunately drake and solo pvp dont go too well together, they not bad in a group, nice damage dealers with flexible range, but if you want solo pvp then find another ship

Edited by: Optimus Magnus on 06/03/2007 11:36:11 Ok thanks for the replys but what would you recommend as a good solo pvp ship? A megathron? -------------------- Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes. Very cool though, just shrink it a bit. -HornFrog ([email protected]) |

I used to fly an armor / ew tanked ferrox with 2 multis, a plate, mwd, web, scram, and heavy launchers / nos in the highs. Don't see why this won't work these days, with dampners.
Try something like
launchers + nos.
mwd, web, scram, 3 x dampner IIs
small armor rep, plate, BCUs, nanos, i-stabs etc. Any combination really.
It's not amazing but it is unexpected. I know the HACs i used to take out in my rox were suprised to see it coming at them at a k and a half per second. Killed a vaga once, silly vaga.
Other that wierd setups like this, if you want a good solo pvp caldari ship, you're pretty screwed.

If you really want to go for solo PVP in a drake then do it... It can be done better than alot of people realize. It's still far from being the best solo PVP ship though. For the basic drake style with shield tank, you do have to dropp the webber to be effective. Although, just cause a target can get away, does not mean a target will get away. Nothing odd about killing something that is 15 km away from you. -------------------------------------- ---"What's in your wallet?"--- "There are two kinds of respect, fear and admiration.... You would be surprised with the amount of people that are clever enough to try to get away.

Its a win for the thread, but as the earlier guy said, soloing in a shield tanked is hard because of the mid slots, then you add soloing in a bc is hard because of how slow they are, even with mwd, so all in all i recon if you have to solo in a bc, but a myrmidom.

Was in 0.0 ratting BS Guristas in a drake with and a tech I frig, he warped in, mwd to target and i warp on him.
Drake Setup:
7 Heavey missile launcher I's - Fitted with Scourge for the 5%bonus to kenetics. 1 Medium diminishing NOS to help with the sheild tank.
2 Medium Sheild Reps 1 2km Scram 1 Webber
3 BCU, 1 Medium Armour (to repair in 0.0 as we have no stations there)
2 Medium scouts and 1 small scout.
Worked really well, im sure its not the tidyest setups but it worked a treat.

You're missing on 2 medium slots and why the armor repairer? Also why 2 medium shield booster?
