It doesn't seem to do ANYTHING. Before it would 5% per level to the AB/MWD speed. So if the AB base was 25%, AC lvl 1 would give 30%, and if one did 'show info' on an AB equiped to your ship it would display the skill adjusted number.
Post patch, the number is always 35% (the base speed bonus for an AB). Given that ab's now are based of ship mass and all that, the only test I could do is to have me and corp buddy pick the same ship, each with the same 10 meganewton AB, only diff being he had AC lvl 3, while I had AC lvl 4.
We both hit the AB, and lo and behold, our top speed is exactly the SAME.
Soo.. What gives CCP?

not just that, navigation is also scr(e)wed. My ships have only base speed now so skill is useless:( ______

My BB does 210m/s, I doubt that's the base speed.

I have noticed that a lot of the navigation skills are busted and don't work that well anymore. Ie they took a big nerf bat and swung it freaking hard on speed. Oh plus the 150 powergrid for the 10 MN Microwarpdrive, wtf? Oh well, my thoughts.

The navigation skills are working, my tempest has a speed of 175 (with lvl 5 nav) and I do 1250 with a quad lif mwd. I can't remember the base speed, but I knows its around 500%, and with that it would only go about 1000, so I know that accelleration control is working. Also if you look at the module while it is equiped it will usualy show you the +% boost with the +% from acceleration control (same for afterburners)

It USED to show that. Post patch at least for me, the boost ammount is ALWAYS shown the same, the base 35%. Unequipped or equipped, irregardless. And I have accel lvl 4.

TomB changed the skill, before it was like this; 1.25 * 1.15 = 1.4375 ~= +43.75% (25% afterburner 1 bonus, 1.15 lvl 3 acceleration control), now it works like this; 25 * 1.15 = +28.75%. But its 35% now so 35 * 1.15 = 40.25. Imho, would be better to keep the old one not to make all people that have trained it not lose a bunch of skillpoints. __________________________________________________________ |

Try to repackage and refit your boosters. It shows 42% boost on mine with Acceleration Control 4 as it should (35 * 1.2)

Yes sometimes the number is displayed wrong, a 10 MN MWD displayed with 500% instead 600% at ACC Control lvl4.
I may be wrong, but the displayed number itself is useless because it doesnŠt take the mass of the ship into account. I never get 600% speed boost with a 10 MN MWD.
Maybe the speed boost is calculated like: 35% (1 MN AB) x (1,000,000 kg/mass of ship) x 1.2 (ACC Control lv4)
A condor with 1 MN AB: 35% x 1/1.3 x 1.2 = 32.308% 320 m/s x 1.2 (Navigation lvl4) x 1.32308 ~ 508 m/s
A Blackbird with 10 MN MWD: 500% x 10/14 x 1.2 = 428,57% 175 m/s x 1.2 x 5.2857 ~ 1110 m/s

My two bits:
1) Pre Patch speed on my Vigil with 3 ab's was aprox. 1280 (with acc. control 3)
2) Post Patch speed on my Vigil with same 3 ab's is now 1008 (same acc. control as above)
I havent tried repackaging my ab's yet, I hope that works. I do know that warp ops skill still works; because I can still warp around 50AU in one try, so all nav skills are not messed up. When I can play, I will check that whole repackage deal and let you know if that fixes it...

I know the pain wasted mych time on afterburner skills, now its uselless.
Before patch Blackbird with 6ab =3000m/s After patch its 1000m/s
I dont know maybe its better this way , but it hurts
Now for fast travelling only mwd.

Edited by: Mrissa Easeah on 22/12/2003 17:41:12 Pre-patch vigil going -slower- than post patch? Yes, definitely you need repackage the AB's, and get a couple power diags, even basic, and slap a 1MN MWD on it along with 2 AB's.
Stock vigil with stock parts, 4km/second! Yeesh!

Ummm... I got the impression (apparently incorrectly) that they were NERFing the big ship speeds for balance issues, they didn't mention that they were NERFing the little one's too is all...

Freya? Try putting just -1- stock 1MN MWD on the Vigil (They fit on frigates now), and you'll beat your old, pre-castor speeds.
Then try playing with a combination of the new AB's and MWD's on it - I can maintain 4km/sec for a bloody long time, and 3km/sec indefinitely. Small ships weren't really nerfed, perse', but the combinations to make them go fast are slightly different.
You can get probes up to pre-Castor vigil speeds fairly easily as well, and vigil's are now just insane.

FOr hauler, (Industrial ship), great now we can stock abot 30% average more. **** off I can now only fit 2 Afterburner....
Bestower 84 power core (lv 4 engineering). Base speed 125ms - cargo extend + % navigation
Like a 150ms base.... Still with 2 nerfed ab, I can't pass 400ms because of LIMITED POWER CORE.
Industrial got the af&mwd nerf in the ass hard Nice links (updated 20 Dec 04): BP, bugs about them. (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way. |

The bad news: Indies now make a snail look fast, it now takes 4-5 minutes to travel across a system if you have a full set of spanders on a Mammoth
The good news: You can carry much more post-castor patch, the cargo hold is bigger so you should need to make fewer trips.
More bad news: The markets only release goods in small quantities, so you have to fly around for ages to fill your ship up with goods at half decent prices.
The end result is that for trading chars, its now a thankless, slow and tedious process, profits are much less than before the castor patch. BS mining is a much better prospect now, I thought CCP were trying to discourage this? PLEASE can CCP increase the market volumes for traders again before we all fall asleep at the helm of our ships, or join the swarms of bs miners full-time?

i did a lot of testing and come to the same formula.
sometimes the fitted ab's just show a 35% boost instead of the true value (42% with accel lvl4) ------------------------------------------ reality is too small for human imagination |
