Edited by: B0rn2KiLL on 05/03/2007 19:59:20 i think a topic that doesnt bash CCP or\and BOB, or whine (about... well, anything :P) is in order.
So without further adieu, Why do you you love eve? :)
I love eve because it distracts the hell out of me, curves my ADD down (though i still get that jumping into highsec with my BS and -9 status thing everynow and then..) and ive met some awesome people ingame. plus the graphics are cool :P

I have no clue why I love EVE. I just feel the need to log on everyday, even if I do absolutely nothing and log off a minute later.
It's probably the people I play with though. Playing solo isn't as fun as it is to play with a friend, imo.

I like the open ended ness of the game and the fact that the game itself doesnĘt coddle you.
I was telling some friends about the recent mega battles between BOB and well, everyone else it seems, and they were saying that stuff like that doesnĘt happen in the MMOĘs they play.
I like the fact that if you can social engineer your way into a corp/alliance as a spy the game doesnĘt make that impossible (or just extremely difficult)
Yay for no coddling!!

Edited by: Valkazm on 05/03/2007 21:03:22 I love the fact that its playrun no other mmo out there like that one person behind a computer tells thousands of others to go to war and they do .. its inspiring and the losses are real .. they dont just run back into the battle for hours untill they turn of and go to bed .. they run into battle untill they have no ship left to use .. And it makes you feel like your character even though your not rolelaying has been through alot i remember the first times i minned and i remember certain alliances the battle of X were so and such misstakes were made .. my first fleet battle etc .. it feels like you grow togheter with your character after all he has experianced .. and continues to get better constantly ..
edit starts here ... Also its so much like RL politics the puppet alliances instaling your own alliance in the new conqured region .. spies betrayel .. And even how small conflicts escelate to include more and more and the fact that people actually despice some alliances or people for defeats or past things they were exposed to ..

Because the challenge in EVE is still strong 1+ year in. To me EVE seems to be a game that isn't focused on progress for the sake of progress. Everything has a reason for doing or not doing.

QFT!
To add my 2cts, I like the way that politics play a REAL part to the game and the respective alliances, not to mention the comminity.
It is freaking awesome and so damn complex, I have been playing a while now (nearly 2 years) and I still don't know everything there is to know about it yet. I am sure you will be hard pressed to find someone that does.
All in all it is not a game any more, rather a simulator, just how you act has no bearing on rl (or perhaps it does, who knows ) and the only big effect you can have on rl is the fact you took that guys time and threw it all away, for no real reason, but also little consequences (or perhaps a ton of consequences) that's the complexity it has.
Intense.

This is my dream game, a single, huge, persistent universe where players from around the world are absolutely free to trade, mine, and fight with and against each other. The result is the closest thing games have yet gotten to creating a fun, accessible but also complex and often realistic, fantastic society.

Because WoW combines being both the biggest and highest suckage ratio in any one MMO. It's just an easy target.
Guild wars had far better PvP than EVE though yeah. Shame it was all contained in stupid arenas, there was no death penalty and no real reason to fight (nothing to defend/attack). If I wanted that kind of gameplay I'd play a FPS. ___

aye, the only thing to prove in guildwars is your skill, but it get's boring after like...thousands of hours of fighting! and as you say FPS's give that 'rush' when you frag someone, hence why i'm here playing eve (i also play fear combat, it's free :D), but i've nothing but respect for NCsoft and what they did with guildwars and their committed, revolutionary, approach to the casual gamer and player skill over time played/wealth. and no subscription fee's? zero lag? *foams*
I played wow and thought it was a complete 'carebare' ridden joke, it's an excuse for subscription fee's and virtual accumulation of status/wealth, nothing more. And the PvP servers? good god..lol.
anyhow, eve is shaping up to be good, i can't wait to join a corp and taste this games pvp.

I'm gonna have to agree with everything you said. I wasn't bashing Guildwars or anything. For a near-free MMO it's excellent. It dragged me away from EVE for a while, but... with nothing to achieve but a higher place on a meaningless ladder, what's the point?
And a rundown of why WoW sucks ass wasn't necessary, succinct though it was. It's almost innate or instinctual among the PvPers here to hate WoW with every fiber of our being.
I might be jaded to EVE having played it for a while but you've still got everything to experience yet. I kinda envy the new players in that respect. I want the adrenaline rush of PvP back. ___

I don't have any ISK. I am flying ships I probably can't afford to lose, because they take a sizeable chunk out of my wallet every time I lose one.
But a sizeable chunk of nothing is still nothing.
I could earn more ISK to spend on more expensive ships but that would require grinding of some kind and I don't play games to grind. ___
