Someone said that it was better to go out doing missions with a full load of weapons and come back with another ship to collect the wreaks. However this would be very time consuming if you did it after ever mission. What I am wondering is if I could do 5 or 6 missions and then go back and collect everything, is there a time limit till the wreaks will dissapear? thanks

After 2 hours wrecks will despawn or what you might call it. Best to salvage after each mission. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many |

Okay, dumb question, but are you talking about salvaging the actual wreck and not just looting the cargo? If so, how do you do that?

Edited by: Baka Lakadaka on 05/03/2007 22:12:34 Salvaging (as opposed to looting) is the act of getting damaged circuitry and other ship components out of a wreck. Looting is getting modules and cargo.
To salvage you need:
Skills: Survey III and Salvage I
Modules: Salvager I
This is the minimum requirement.....salvage rigs, tractor beams and higher skills are all handy but not strictly necessary.
Back to the OP - You need to complete your mission, get back to your agent for the reward (and time bonus reward if possible) then swap into your salvage ship and get back ASAP. The wrecks will be gone in 2 hours from kill time - not mission end time.

Make sure you make at least one bookmark in each deadspace location. I try to do it everytime I use an acceleration gate/nav beacon so I don't forget. After you complete your mission with the agent, the deadspace goes away, but the wrecks remain, so you can warp directly to them (unless you forgot to make bookmarks -- then just give up and start the next mission).

Depends on how fast the missions you are doing are. If you are doing lvl 1's or lvl 2's then you could wait for a few to be done before going back to loot them. Lvl 3's can take a little longer, and its easy to lose track of time. With some lvl 4's you are lucky to finish the mission before the wrecks start expiring.
At the moment you can't salvage without taking the loot out. What you can do is take some loot our, jettison it, and then transfer the remaining loot from the wreck into the jet can. If you have a lot of wrecks, and a tractor beam, you can tow the jet can along with you and just fill it with the loot from the wrecks so that you can then salvage them.
Supposedly in Revelations 1.4 they will give you the ability to salvage the wreck without looting it. ----------------------------------------------------
