Hello all. I am relatively new to the game, but I'm hoping to join the YARR ranks as soon as possible. I'm currently learning all the memory/intelligence skills before I start into the ships/weapons skills, so I know I have about 2 months before I'm ready to be a real pirate.
I have a few questions that I was hoping all you fine pirates could answer.
1) Is cloaking in this game any good? I don't want to waste my time making a ship that can cloak if it's not even good. Also, what size ship can be cloaked...is it only certain ships?
2) I'm Gallente. Is there certain weapons that are better to use, or does it not make a difference?
3) Can you target will cloaked - obviously you can't fire while cloaked (right?) - and what is max range you can target and fire at someone.
4) Is there any good corps to join of jolly 'ole space priates, or do most pirates live a life of solitude?
5) Any other pertinent info I should know as to not waste time on my skills and other stuff?
Many thanks (I feel lost)

1. yes if you fly recon ships otherwise no
2. use the weapons you like on ships which supports them gallente would be drones and blasters and maybe rails.
3. you cant target while cloaked and can't use any modules. Max targeting range is 250km
4. there are many good corps, but try to find one which has some proud and wont kill everything. its more fun to have a challenging fight than to camp a gate and: Hauler F1-F8 boom
feel free to convo me for some low sec hunting action. To get you started. ...eve's worst pirate...

Thanks.
I'll hit you up once I feel decently prepared to do some damage.
I'm definitely not about gate camping - I'm looking for some good fights, something for fun/sport.

The advice I can give you is this: You need experience, and to get that, you need to try it.
If you've got the willpower to spend two months playing without going pirate, I salute you, and you'll probably start with a nice chunk of change to back you up for your experience.
The best way to gain the experience you need is with a corp that will guide you, rather than just allow you in and give you stuff.
Go for the Booty is located in Maila V - Peace and Order station. We have a couple of very new people, and we're teaching them one step at a time - come check us out if you want. One of the members is the guy who taught me what I know.
You could come now or come later, not sure which might be better. Eve-mail Rastoman or Complex Potential, they'll talk to you about it. Tell 'em I referred you. ============= Gate Camp: Originally by: Marcus TheMartin Think of it like fishing with a machine gun while in a tent full of people that won't shut up on ts

Thanks, I may look you guys up. I'm definitely not looking for handout/freebies, just info and guidance. Trying to make some cash now, running some missions, and learning the basics.
My play time is limited, but every now and then I get on for a good chunk of time.
Thanks!

Are you "EvE's worst pirate" because you're not very good at it, or because you're very good at it indeed, and therefor the "worst"?

no pirate is a rapiest.
-some are political activists like thoose who liberate drones (or modules).
-others are just sexual perverts and therefore frozen corpse molesters.
-few are even pirates because they can get hot chicks by showing their big guns screamin' "YARRRR" all the time...
why should a pirate be a rapiest?

IMHO not necessarily true. You maybe just forgot CovOps und Stealth Bombers.
And every now and then I even use a cloaking device on other combat ships as well. Laying traps and stuff ...
So for me learnt cloaking payed off.

Erm no it won't.
I am all of about 10 days old and about 3 weeks from having maxed [yes maxed possible] memory and intelligence stats. 10 days or so without cybernetics 5.

Thanks so much. Don't worry about me being a carebear, I've played other MMO's on PvP servers because it's dull otherwise. The PvP/Pirating aspect is what drew me to this game.
Thanks again to all for the good info.

Training the basic learning skills won't max out your attributes. Check out the 5 advanced learning skills as well.
