Customization would be great, also an option to change ammo for all your weapons at once would be great - especially for Amarr

Edited by: R34PER on 06/03/2007 14:41:42 I want a decent drone interface and complete overview revamp Its so clumsy i sometimes rip my hair off. (hint: move unlock away from other buttons)
edit: at the very least add few templates to choose from, i'd already feel better.

Originally by: Emily Spankratchet have drones out, and still have space for more than two ships in my overview window. The right-hand side of the screen is just getting too crowded.
Its the same for me and surely for most players. We cant carry anything on screen. My monitor is wide-screen and i have much space horizontal but not vertical. I would like to put my drones, my gang or any window for example to left side.
One other thing is nobody have to use addons or customizations in any game. If u like the UI like it is then u leave it. I played wow too and used minimal UI mods because it can easily be overloaded. But I believe a customizable UI for EVE will raise the user base of the game and attract more people into galaxy.

I don't see why users can't create their own UI skins. They can be extremely useful and don't show data you don't already see, just in a different format. They can actually make the game a lot more fun for some users, I can't see why this would even be an issue.

I don't want anything but a single official UI, I don't want new laggy graphics, and I don't want people to play EVE who want either...

is it not enough u rich people can gain advantage by buying gtc? people with 2 monitors shouldnt have an advantage over others.

True, but it ain't overpowered to see chat etc on one screen and gameplay on another, it changes nothing. Unless getting a better view on the battlefield is cheating in your opinion, time to raise screen resolution

Edited by: u die on 06/03/2007 15:31:46 Turning off "action menu" as option would be great also. (middle mouse btn = ventrilo) The popping up stuff usually just annoys me, especially in case of mis-sized boundary boxes.
edit: ...but WoW-like 3rd party stuff isnt welcome imho. ________________________________________________

I don't know... Sure it sounds great at first but in other games some of those UIs border on exploits and give you a huge advantage over someone who uses the standard UI. So in order to play even you would have to use a custom UI, too and I really don't want that spiral to even start.
Small things like window size or fonts would be ok though.

I want to be able to turn off ALL ships, all planets and get ONLY symbols. No Rendering of any kind. I want space to be all black. I would also like to be able to rip the overview appart and place where I want, along with a trigger to activate multiple slots. (par example Highslot 1-8, Midslot 1-2 and 5, Lowslot 3-5)
I think that would do wonders to lag.. and if not, it would make it easier to locate stuff.

One good reason to not have a customizable GUI is because of all the exploits that would come along.
If you think macros are a problem now, just wait until every little script kiddie can can parse overview data.
Macro PVP anyone? No thanks.
Some updates to the UI would be nice, but not at the expense of a relativly secure client. -AS |

I dont think the UI should be messed with much maybe a little but not to the point of customization. that goes back to the whole thing of customizing ships... it would be really cool but it would have total negative impact as well.
like more LAG. god knows we dont need any more of that as they are doing a pretty good job of beginning to balance out systems and nods. at least they are trying to make the game more playable not prettier.

Ain't gonna happen. EVE is build on a very hard and unflexable code - Python.

I am sure they are using some sort of engine on TOP of python to run the interface. It could be possible to create addons or at least customization. I'm all in favor of customization. However addons that "play for you" would ruin the game even more. ---

I don't see how a customizable interface would contribute to lag. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Edited by: Mesacc on 06/03/2007 17:03:31 I always wished you could move the system message box where you get dammage messages, and the warp drive active and stuff. Its always right there in the middle right in the way. I wanna relocate it to the bottom corner out of the way!
Would be nice to be able to relocate the over view and maybee change the transarency of it to.

I used to write UI mods for another game...
while some modifications may be good... it is a dangerous road to travel down. Once "macros" or fully programmable UIs are introduced, things get sticky.
while a simple xml based layout UI refit (ie you can adjust how things look and are laid out, but can't actually CODE anything) might be good... any time you can do an if then else inside of the UI, things will go badly.

I've got to admit that the Interface can get pretty cluttered at times, and while you do have to update mods in games like WoW its not as often as you might think and worth the visual improvements.

I was thinking about this the other day. Being able to make subtle, temporary customisations, like a "warp to next/previous belt" menu option for ratting, would be nice. Or how about something to check the "true" sec status when out in 0.0 (though I would prefer if that just showed up anyway, why doesn't it?!). Single-use bookmarks would be nice too, so you don't have to go and delete them afterwards. How about a countdown timer for ice miners?

I think a full customizable UI with addons would do Eve a lot of good, though due to Eve being pvp centric and certain advantages that might be gained from a modified UI that it should be moderated.
An example would be the test server allowing any modification to run, while the main server requires the mod to be digitally signed by CCP. This means people could develop them on the test server and do whatever they want, and once they had a functional mod that doesn't do anything outside of what CCP allows they could submit it to CCP for signing. Making it safe, and not giving anyone an outside advantage as the addons would all go through the same testing process.
I really feel that player created mods are important, they can show developers what players are really looking for in terms of of the UI and where it can improve. WoW mods helped blizzard significantly the default UI, and I can see the same thing happening for CCP.

That would require them to look at things.

Quite some time ago there was a popup window that used to spring up, the "Theat Display" this used to show all people performing aggression to you, or just locking you. We have the customisable overview now tho.
The less MODS to the UI tho the better, it would just be a race to who can have the most advantageous modded display, giving better information/abilities to some and not all.

One of the main reasons I loved WoW so much was UI mods and that nice ability to modify ANYTHING you saw on your screen.
Thats one of the MAJOR reasons what I hate in EVE. I want able to do modifications to my UI. Not my fault if I get "advantage" because everyone else is allowed to have SAME opportunity!

If your CPU is powerful enough, then majority of lag you might feel belongs to server side. Can nothing do about it on client side.
