141,678,965 times and counting.
I hear its sometime around summer but I would expect to see it at the end of 2007. Not a dig at CCP just because there is so much needing done.
Then again they may have had some monkeys locked in a basement for the last 3 years developing it without our knowledge - ooooooooo that explains Icelands Banana shortage

last i heard is kali3, which is slated for winter 2007. They pushed it back a little because they decided to overhaul not only the ships, but also stations, structures etc. And there's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers However, I still think EvE needs more and better tactical warning sounds.

If you squint real hard, and put your tongue between your lips and blow while you're playing, it makes the graphics look totally crazy.

Yah, and like was said, CCP actually has a development cell now to work on audio, where as before I guess it was only a side project that was worked on as needed.
But yah,.. here's to getting some audio feedback out of the game other than the pew-pew!

Graphics update + sound update = performance boost (if you got the hardware) Oh, and it looks sweet too.
The graphics atm are run more on the processor than on the GPU. With the new client this will change. Sounds... is that even hardware accelerated at all? :P Anyway, with the sound upgrade we'll probably have hardware acceleration too (EAX), which will hopefully reduce the CPU stress too.
This all will result in a higher framerate - until you turn all those fancy shaders on. Eve will then really depend on your GPU if you really want the eyecandy and performance.
A small comparison: EvE runs at about 40-55 fps in space, 75 mid-warp. Though, the graphical features here are minimal. Mostly just textures and sprites covering your view. Drops to 20-30 during busy combat (fleet) and about 40 during small gangs. Trackmania Nations I can run at 90 fps constantly. That's having the shader set to setting 2 (highest is 3 and gives you neat grass). Textures are all on high, nice shaders are on, AA at 2x (or 4x, can't remember), and Antisotrophic at 8x.
Soooooo, in short I can't wait to get my hands on the new graphics client. It really looks sexy. Hopefully they're overhaul the UI too, as the usability really is crap. Take a ship, and look what button is next to the 'make active' one........... 'trash it'? Come on CCP, you can do better :)

I now can't wait for the gfx upgrades. In about 2 weeks I'll have my new computer, which has oodles of RAM, and a geforce 8800 GTX graphics card, with DX10 compatibility.
The machine i'm on atm would probably explode at the thought of the new gfx

I'm going to be in an celestis when the graphics update comes. Dying over, and over again, because i'll be distracted by it's beauty.

Tbh I have had enough of all the damn right-click menu crap. I want specific buttons for more things and failing that, I want more freedom in the key-binding area. Basically the UI needs to be revisioned from scratch taking what they've learned over the years into account. (/signed)
The gfx and sound stuff will be most welcome though.
