Hello guys!
I'm developing an application to give you advice in what items to trade on a given station (station trading) or hauling between them. It would only work with the major trade hubs.
You would set your preferences, lets say, I'll do station trading on Jita. Then it will use CREST to download the information for every item and throw you a table with all the statistics for them. You will be able to sort this table and to narrow it using different parameters.
It will tell you thinks like, profit to be made if you control certain % of that market for the given period of time that you choose. The activity of that market (activity of users refreshing their orders).
So, what do you think ? Would you use it ? Would it make easier to find the trends of the items to trade ? Would you pay a fee for it ?
Thanks, Evalla
EDIT: I would be something like this, with better interface and some more characteristics:

When you hit the market, you will see things you shouldn't have seen. App would be great to simplify the arrangement and it will make scammer perish. Can't say no.
There is nothing worthy in this world even if others think it is worth something...

In general yes. I think there are already some existing tools/sites which try to do it. All of them have had some issues which in practice have decreased their value a lot. Mostly because they didn't contain enough filtering options.
There should be several ways to filter the data eg.
- Ignore items costing more than X isk - Ignore items costing less than X isk - List items by profit % - List items by raw isk profit - Ignore certain item categories completely - Ignore items smaller/larger than Y cubic meters. - Ignore items with daily trading volume which is less/more than Z items/day
It would be very handy to have several filters active at the same time. |

Well, actually the current state of the soft has those options. |

Well, that's just too simple. I wasn't going to add something like that. But after I finish the new interface I will consider to add a region/station comparator. |

In the other forum you are asking 'Would you pay a fee for it ?'
Yes, if it has some some time saving features which are needed constantly such as:
- Pressing button would automatically setup buy orders / buy all the items from your source location which you have marked so that you don't have to do it manually. - Automatic hauling contract creation - Something else which I haven't thought of and cannot be done otherwise efficiently
These are probably not even possible with current APIs.
Otherwise no. |

That's illegal I think.
I was actually considering to release it into a licence / subscription system.. but that's just until someone crack it and that would end it.
So, as I don't want to develop security... I think I'll just release free for all, and maybe some sort of information sharing. Not personal of course, just market info, that you could turn off if you don't want to share... This info would be to make the predictions more accurate.

The downside to programs like this is that they will almost certainly result in anything profitable being rapidly jumped on by everyone as everyone will be using the same algorithm to find profitable items.

As a new player and aspiring market trader, I have been using a combination of Eve Trade Master and an API spreadsheet that I spent three days going over youtube videos to create, and I am still not close to having it completed...but it is a start.
Something that looks like that would be greatly appreciated but not sure about a fee since I am just starting out. |

I would use it if I didn't program such a tool for myself already :)
All of the difficulty is to find what makes an item worth trading, and it is not easy to think up of all of the data that makes it so, but once you've done that, trading becomes real passive income.
Best of luck! |
