It looks like Eve is losing touch with all but the most seasoned players. The new patch makes it easyer for strong players to make money, and harder for weaker players to survive and develop. Having been killed 4 times so far by PC's, each time while i was in a heavily armed cruiser, it looks like Eve only caters for Battleship owners. I cant even get to my lvl 3 agent anymore as she's in a 0.3 security system. Eve will pay for this, no one enjoys being killed all the time. Newbie's wont hang arround for long im sure.

Stick to empire space. You will be safe there.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

And do what, spend my precious time watching my ship mine from crappy asteroids for hours on end im not paying ú8 a month for that. its not fare that the games getting harder. The people who started earlier got battleships for half the cost they are now. I'm quiting as soon as this months subscription runs out, and im sure lots of weaker players will too. It's Dark age of camelot for me, at least they dont discriminate against people who have a life.

You think so, my friend has got with in 6 million of buying a battleship 3 times. Every time a patch has come out and the prices have risen astronomically, he quit last week. Do you actually think thats fare, when people who started earlier could buy them for 60 million.

Dont think BS prices have flexuated that much. Actually, I was under the impression they have gone down until Mega prices went so far up. But then again, I could be wrong? ------------------------------------- Quantum Industries

yes you are wrong you could buy battleships for 60 million 2 weeks ago, now they are 120 million minimum. The game is great if you have one, you can make cash by the bucket full, if not however you have no chance.

Right now im doing agent missions, the trouble is my lvl 3 agent is in a 0.3 security system, so i get attacked by tough PC pirates all the time. Doubt if i'll ever get a battleship, but if i did i'd start tackling NPC pirates for bounty and equipment. I was doing this a while ago in my cruiser, but PC's in battleships made it impossible to survive in low level systems.

sorry but it is 100% true within a few months there will be no new players, and the players with less time to play will go to games that can be played and enjoyed a few hours a night or even a weekend that is not this game, and and now after the patch even more so. The players that can take the time to play the test server will rule the game and the ones that have the time to play hours a day will do alright the others will move on to better games for they play time which will take away from the player base which hurt the game.

I tend to consider myself somebody who "has a life" and indeed a "casual player." I'm far from having a battleship, but my cruisers suit me just fine. With the JIPs being at gates now and battleships having hella slow targetting times, I'm sure I'll continue to love my cruisers.
If you think that mining is the only way to get rich, consider the following. First, do you even need to be rich to enjoy the game? I could expound upon that, but to be brief I've found the answer is a resounding "no." Second, don't mine. Make your money work for you. For some time now I've been putting out large buy orders (read, well over a million) for pyerite at 3/unit, selling at 5/unit. If you're patient enough to let buy/sell orders do the work for you, you can keep a fair amount of money on hand. No, you won't get uber rich (people only buy pyerite at 5 when they're desperate) but you will have enough to buy cruisers, keep them well equiped and well insured. And you can use the time saved not mining to do various other fun things.

ok. it's very hard to get past a pc rat blockade in a bs right now so u don't want a bs for that.
u can still kill npc with your cruiser. find a safe place where there isn't a lot of traffic since pc rats like places that ppl travel through a lot.
u can also go to jk-fix region with your cruiser fitted with an mwd and ninjamine.
there r lots of more ways to make money. -------------------------------------------

Whats up with you?
Eve's Market is crashing slowly due to lack of mins coming into the empire.
I Could buy a car today for ú20,000, and if a depression hit maybe that same car could cost 30k in a years time.
Would you "Quit driving" just becasue the market has died?
In the first few months Bships were rare, and cost ~150m upwards, in the last 2 months the market was saturated and they cost ~70m. Now the market has dried up again and they are back to 150m upwards. Its just the old Boom/Bust market fluctuation.
If you know anything about the economy you will know this symptom, Hell right now in England im a First time house buyer and prices are 40% higher than 3 years ago, doesnt mean i get in a huff and go live on the streets.
As soon as corps begin megacyte Ops again prices will lower.
Its not CCP's fault, they wont be suddenly seeding 1m Megacyte on the market. Its an economic blip. I bet 1 year from now Eve is a while cycle of Boom/bust economic periods due to the nature of us players.
Besides, everyone is not meant to have a battleship, if you havent noticed the map recently, people are loosing batteships left right and centre to the new NPC's.
Mining Arkanor and Bistot is tought right now, but possible, i know that as fact, having being part of a long mining Op in the last 12 hours. IT just takes some skill, some wise selection of defensable belts, and 6 or 7 guys to defend the miners. Mercenary | The Azath |

Nervy, as to your house prices analogy, why do you think loads of brits are buying property abroad. Thats exactly what newbies will do here. ie leave for a better, and farer game.

Rubbish
I have 4 friends who have only been playing a month, and they have no interest in battleships at all.
It sounds like you feel left out, as you missed the last "boom" cycle of the market, no doubt ina month tech 1 bships will be back to 70m, especially as tech 2 bships will be here in a month.
If you cant handle a player based economy its best you do go find another game.
hope you have fun in DAOC. Mercenary | The Azath |

I understand your issues with having trouble surviving. I to am a newer player (within 3 months) but I have been able to find a way to survive and make money in game. There is a big misconception that you need to have a BS to be good at the game. However this is not true. A cruiser can be just as versitile and more dynamic. I have found that due to changes in Castor a lot of my old lvl 3 agents are now out of my reach so I have had to cultivate new ones. This has proved to be a lucrative venture for me and it has also opened up some opportunities I would not have considered before. I wish you the best of luck, but as someone above already stated you need to learn to adapt to do well in this game.

Not having abttleships isnt my problem, its the fact that people who do have them dominate the game. You can make cash 10 times quicker if you have one. The best way to resolve this would be to have interrim ships classes. That way the gulf between haves and have nots would be much smaller. Bad game design is at fault for this, and i was dissapointed to see it unresolved in the new patch.
