I know this has probably been asked before and its a lame question; but, how do I get a research agent. Do I keep going with my pre-patch level 3 agent or do you get them some other way. Also, we use to see how maney missions we completed, I dont see that any more...

u have to get your standings up towards the agents corp/faction, so if your agent is in a amarr corp u need to increase your amarr standings.
I worked for a khanid corp all yesterday, my caldari standings went up so much i was able to goto a caldari corp today and start working for a lvl 3 agent straight away, even got access to a lvl 3 research agent, but couldnt use him as i didnt have the required skills

How do you get the required skills, and how do you know what those skills are..

the requires skills are given as bonuses by nomal agents, or u can always buy them from other people who are selling them

How do I know which corporations have R&D Agents? Is there a list posted somewhere? I dont want to do missions for an agent corp that doesn't have R&D.

The list is posted on this site actually.
On the left, go to "World of EVE" link, then hit organisations, then choose your empire/area agent is in. After that browse through the corporations and look at ones that have "R&D" Sections, click the link and you get a list of all the research agents.
Depending upon your corp/agent/fac standing, you can use different ones if the skills you have are compatible.
Those lists give locations and levels for all agents as well as buy and sell commodities for all npc corporations.
Hope this helps, it's pretty much everything you could ask for. (Besides a search function)

Open Info sheet of selected NPC corporation and check the "Agents" tab. Some corporations will have R&D division there listed.

unfourtunatly the prereqs for the new research skills are lvl5 in multiple skills,, any of us young corps have many months of training before we have a chance of being any part of tech2, or research agents.

Many months? Probably a month to start from scratch getting science 5, mechanics 5 and engi 5. Maybe 5 weeks.
