Hi everyone,
So I'm thinking about trying out nullsec ratting for a different experience and good iskies and loot, trying to stay there as much time as possible. I've heard wonders about the T3 destroyers, and I wonder how well could one of them work in there. Which one could bring the best results? I think the Confessor would be great due to no ammo issues, but I've heard nothing about the Hecate, and blasters tend to melt stuff... Also, up to what spawns and DED sites could these ships handle? Both in terms of tank and dealing enough damage. I've heard people also use T1 cruisers fairly effectively, and then there's the T3 cruisers of course (although those are more expensive). Given the nature of nullsec, I'd like to be risking as little as possible, which includes the ability to flee or destroy other players.
I want the best rewards possible, but I'm aware there's a limit to what you can achieve with each ship. What would you recommend me? (an estimation of income per hour would be greatly welcome as well if possible) Thank you very much in advance!

This is a good one since there is not right answer. In think in this case it comes down on personal experience and preference. The Confessor can handle Rogue Drone DED 10/10 easy and would even be the best ship in term of weapon system because of the weakness of Rogue Drones.
Some people like the Vexor Navy Issue and sentries, I don't like sentries. I would make use of the heavy drones bonus. Make sure you only use the Vexor Navy Issue on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, which are the New Edens "we don't shoot drones today" days. The rest of the week you need to be very careful with drones, especially Sundays. My advice is a 100mn afterburner armor rep fit. Pulse one rep every now and then.
The Stratios is an amazing pve boat since you can have both lasers and drones. She isn't cheap but a covert ops cloak, a 100mn afterburner and one local rep should make up for this.
Neither the Stratios or the Vexor Navy Issue can handle DED complexes above 4/10. Stasis tower and neutralizer tower will pin you down and its game over.
A laser Legion can but I am not sure how good this one would be doing in a higher than 6 or 7/10. Then of course the Tengu which can solo all of those but you need to have a ton of ammo.
If time isn't an issue I would lean towards a Stratios with a depot for "hacking" equipment.
Eve Minions is recruiting. Learn from about pvp, learn about ships and how to fly them correctly. Small gang and solo action in high, low and nullsec and w-space alike.

100MN AB VNI. It can run many 0.0 sites, however it can't handle much in the way of escalations. A Gila can do 6/10 escalations with some care, but costs a LOT more than a VNI.

VNI does not have a heavy drone bonus, that is the ishtar.
@OP
There are different kinds of ratting in null. I assume you're talking about either belt or anoms since only DED 6/10 and higher spawn in null and they are not doable in T3Ds apart from the aforementioned rogue drone 10/10 (which is actually 5/10 difficulty)
The golden standard for ratting in null is the 100mn Vexor Navy Issue with heavy drones. You set orbit on something in the centre of a haven site (these have mainly battleships) and you take very little damage and 5 heavy drones are enough dps to kill the rats in decent time.

The VNI gets a bonus to all combat and mining drones.
OP: The VNI is a good starter ship for 0.0 ratting if you have decent drone skills. I recommend faction heavies until you can get t2 heavies( or if you want more durable drones for tanking). |

mates I know what bonuses they have, Elia just implied that the VNI has the microwarp and tracking bonus of the ishtar
Notice how the VNI says "drone"
whereas the ishtar has a specific bonus for "heavy drones" |

whereas the ishtar has a specific bonus for "heavy drones" The VNI is better in almost every way than the ishtar. Its 3-4 times cheaper than an ishtar, It has the same drone DPS/HP as the ishtar for heavies and more dps and HP for sentries( by about 25% more)
It has the same slot layout, more base HP, more speed/agility, An extra rig slot. The ishtar has a bigger bay, 4 gun turrets in case you want to shoot something and stupidly high base resistance to kin. The ishtar is fine for sniping with sentries however the VNI is better at ratting. Also the VNI you can skill into like what 30 days faster?

Nobody said anything about whether or not the ishtar or vni is better. Why are you just creating arguments with yourself?
And no, the VNI is not outright better, 37.5% tracking and velocity on the ishtar make it far outclass the VNI, along with other things. |

Okay, Okay it is a drone bonus but why would I talk about sentries and suggest heavy drones with a speed bonus. You won't do Havens or Sanctums with 5 light drones.
Jeebus, I thought it would be clear that you want to use heavy drones instead of sentries for that task or any kind of pve except for some DED or unrated DED complexes.

For an extra 140 mil you get an extra 200 m/s to heavy drone speed and 0.08 more to tracking or whatever it called now. Thats a bargain! Im going to buy 6 ishtars right now. /sarcasm. When you consider cost vs stats, yes the VNI is better except for select situations. There is a reason why one of the first PVE ships brought into an area after a new alliances takes over is VNIs and NOT ishtars. In fact you would be hard pressed to find a ratting ishtar in null but will literally trip over VNIs..why do you think that is? |

Those stupidly high resists to kinetic make the Ishtar the preferred afk semi afk rat ship vs Gurista. I don't see many VNIs in Tenal, but I do see a large amount of Ishtars. They also move fast on the market. |
