question about the guns. I understand gate guns have an optimal range of 150km. does anyone know what the fall off is? Im interested in finding out how far away i need to be to safely snipe at gates and stations in low sec

as long as you are 151 km from the object that the sentry guns are protecting, they wont touch you
That's a Templar, an Amarrian fighter, used by carriers.

Next think you know his gang flies up to you and starts doing hideous things to your ship. Suddenly they are calling you "Sally" in local chat. To make it worse, if you are properly set up for sniping you have no tank to speak of.
Moral: Don't linger at a sniping perch and have more than one. Be aligned. If a Covert Ops ship uncloaks next to you and drops a bar of soap . . . WARP OFF . . . Do not, repeat not, pick it up.

Gate camp in a Badger and the Vindicator will never appear, or so I've heard. It's kind of a myth that Badgers scare off Vindicators. Who knows.

LOL we knew you were coming I told them to get out but they didnt move, maybe my mic was not working who knows. I knew my insurance expired that night so i didnt bother. Only bad thing was you killed me at 3something eve time and the insurance mail said it expired at 108 eve time rofl. Oh well good fight phoenus.

150km isn't their optimal range it's their activation range. sentry guns don't work like normal turrets. their optimal range is anything from 0km up to 150km away from the target they are protecting. no falloff, max tracking.

Sentry guns have NO max range as such, just an activation range. If your at 240km and you shoot the sentry gun, it will shoot you back [;)] (Just one shot though as I remember)

Well as a cov ops pilot if someone is flying alligned towards something we tend to ram them head on right before our gang arrives to knock them off course and then warp off leaving the rest of the gang to clean up.
