Whew! All the planing -- all the agony, all the risk -- all the ammo! 4000+ rounds I think. So I turned down Unauthorized military presence, and got Pirate Slaughter. Angels. I think I'm cool tanking 5 battleships in the second room, until I get to the big boys in the 3rd room spewing thermal damage along with explosive and kinetic. With the 80k between gates it took me over 3 hours. Man do I have sorry skills!

You also picked a difficult one to try your first L4 solo! I've been experimenting of late and solo'd L4 Blockade against the Sanshas yesterday. 2 hours to finish it, mostly becasue I switched from Large blasters, to 425 rails before settling on 350 rails as the most effective for the misison. Took another 40 mins to loot...

I have been solo'n lvl 4's for a while now :) i do them in a drake best ship for lvl 4's imho and can vary in times from 90 to 180 mins.

No, wrong. Raven is the best ship for lvl 4s 
Never gave my drake a shot in a lvl 4. Well tried to take out the BSs in the last stage of Angel Strike 10/10. I have no patience to wait for my heavy missiles break the tanks on a 1.2mil rat

If it takes you 90 minutes minimum to do lvl 4 missions then no, it's definately not the best ship for it...

Any appropriately pimped ship with skills can do lvl4s. I do them now on other characters. Raven is not be all for lvl 4, but is easier to use due to not having to reload range dependant ammo for best wtfpwning results.

I just got a Maelstrom last night, but have been too chicken to run L4s. While I can technically afford to lose it, I cannot afford to replace it for a long time if I do.
Just wondering if anyone knew of a few of the easier L4s to get me started.
I had to turn down Pirate Slaughter because I was fairly sure I wasn't ready. I've only got BS @ 3 and cannot fit T2 artillery yet. Tank wise I run 3 t2 invulns and a t2 em hard for angels (gives me appropriate resists for damage %). I have a boost amp and a CL-5 XL booster.

My lil list of solo doable L4's (using a Raven since about 3 weeks now with Tech II active sists since about a week and a C5-L XL sb and a sba I) :
Duo of Death (Sansha's)
Unauthorized military presence (Bloodraiders)
The Score (Sansha's)
Guristas spies
Infiltrated Outposts
Pirate invasion (Sansha's)
Rogue drone harassment
Rogue slave traders (both 1/2 and 2/2: watch out for Centus Savage Lord BS doing 300 kin dmg in 2nd room of 2/2 when fit for EM/Thrm)
These are all done with caldari BS 3, mediocre cruise missile skills, Tech I gallente drones (hobs and hammerheads) but with tech II BCS and PDS and active sists.

The ones to watch out for when first starting lvl 4's are Worlds Collide and Vengeance. WC is tough, especially so if its the serp/gurista version and you go down the gurista gate! Vengeance requires you to fit an AB in the last section as well as fitting torp launchers as normal cruise is not upto the job of breaking the that BS's tank and you need to AB upto the rat as it's defender spam is wicked!

congrats 1st one is always the toughest. i did worlds collide last night one of the more longer ones to do i think and it took me 75min to kill everything and 20 min to salvage, blockade everything in under that time as well. if you fit your ship up right and have skills to back it up you can rip them apart. i use to be like theres no way people do this, well i am one of them now so have fun make your isk and see you in the group soon
ps
that last stage is a pain in the butt and the gates is just wrong, 130km between gates ick, only missions i run AB on is guriista, but dude in all honesty 3 hours to do one of the toughest lvl 4's and not dying and for first time doing them hats off, i see good things in your future
