This is in no way a complaint or question of balance. Its merely a question about facts.
Whats the fastest you can imagine a nanobs reaching? Im presuming full snakes, domi nanos, gist x mwd, t2 rigs etc, whatever you can do to make it reach that astronomical speed. Obviously full skills.
Reason is, I got thrown at me that 10km/s is a huge exageration, wich I quite swiftly proved it was not, but what speeds do you expect is reachable?
Highest estimate so far is 25km/s wich did sound a bit out of the blue.

I've had a Nanophoon going 12k+ but that's not even close to some of the Machs I've seen run around the north. ____________ Coming soon... |

Edited by: Aramendel on 08/03/2007 11:23:48 A nanophoon with the best of the best fittings, rigs, implants and ganglinks and which is using all lows for speedmods can reach 20 km/s.
A nanomach will be prolly a bit faster, but not by a significant amount.
To compare, a similarily equipped/boosted crusader should reach 28-29 km/s.

Edited by: Sekh Ondaari on 08/03/2007 11:20:08 I tried playing around with it a bit in Quickfit, but as you probably know, that wouldnt allow me to do everything I wanted.
It did however give me a speed of 8200.429 m/s, wich im entirely sure its incorrect.
Current fitting there is: Machariel Gist X-type 100Mn MWD 5x Domination Overdrive Injectors 2x Local Hull iStabs (Rest are empty) 2x Propellant Injection Vent I's 1x Propellant Injection Vent II Implants are: Slot 1-6: Snake(not included in Qfit) Slot 7: Shaqil's Speed Enhancer - +8% Velocity Slot 8: Zor's Hyper-link - +5% AB/MWD speed. Slot 10: Hardwiring - Eifyr and Co. 'Rogue' MY-2 - +5% AB/MWD speed.(Not included in Qfit)
Navigation and Acceleration Control at 5 of course. What have I missed, and is anyone more familiar with the mechanics able to give me a speed of this setup?
Also, gangbonuses are not included, Skirmish Warfare Link - Rapid deployment should add to it, so should the skills skirmish warfare and in a way Skirmish Warfare specialist.

That seems about right and should give you a base speed of about 16k/s (roughly). Add to that the 15% for gang+mindlink skills and the 37.5% to mwd speed and you'll be in the region of 23k/s.

Quickfit is totally wrong on every ship setup i've tried when it comes to speed.
It's like 1km/s+ off on my crow and all the mods/rigs/stats are correctly in.
Basically, i don't think it's calculating mass or agility calculations correctly.

It's gonna depend a fair bit whether your going for silly speed or actual pvp speed. I.e. if you're just trying to hit an uber top speed u can fill your lows with overdrives, but you won't be able to turn for s**t. If you intend to pvp however and actually remain within 20-30km, you'll need i-stabs and nanos.
I believe (though I may be wrong) the ideal combination for speed+manuverability on a nanobs is 3 i-stabs and the rest domi nanos, atleast that's what it was on my raven.

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 08/03/2007 17:14:26 Through fiddling with my spreadsheet, I calculate that it is possible to get a Machariel up to approximately 32,281m/s. NB: This involves using strong X-Instinct combat boosters and requires maximum gang bonuses from a squadron leader with a Claymore, not to mention all sorts of other kit ------

course that must have been using overdrives, turning would have been pretty damn shoddy.

12-15k is doable for a phoon. I see those all the time. I think a mach can do faster than that. Ive only encountered one nano-mach, and it was going "ludicrous speed" to quote Spaceballs.

It was pretty close for me, but was a bit off figuring in istabs and overdrive combos. Based on quickfit, I chose propellent vent speed boost rig over the wieght reducing one, (housing something or other)

The fastest nano-BS that I know of is piloted by Zeroh, a former corpmate of mine. It's a machariel that goes 13,000m/s in a straight line, and 12,000m/s while orbiting. It's just stupid. -Wrayeth "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!"

So here's a question for you calculations guys - how fast could you get a Phantasm going?
Too bad you can't deal damage ramming with the spikes... Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

What's the working nanophoon setup?
I hear people talking about these crazy speeds but I can't get my 'phoon anywhere close to these numbers.
Lows = 7xnanos + 100mn micro.
Navigation level 5
Top speed is roughly 2,300.
I'm missing something.
Note: I've only been playing for a few months and I'm just over 4 mil skillpoints.

And in addition to that:
- not using instabs (5nanos/2instabs or 4nanos/3instabs are the best combos) - using base t1 or lowgrade named
Lvl 4 acc con + 3 vent rigs + t2 MWD are almost twice as fast as none of that + t1 MWD 5 t2 nanos + 2 LH instabs are also a 40% speed boost compared to 7 t1 nanos.
Both combined gives about a 2.5 times higher speed.

I think it went more like 15 km/sec tho. His new one got killed thanks to a triple 90% web Astarte about 10 minutes after he left the corp and tried to pirate his former friends

The OP was asking about battleships, not CBCs; I'm well aware that smaller ships can go faster if you fit them with the same kit.
At the moment, however, I'd say that the Zealot would be the fastest overall- cruiser mass, 7 low slots, and enough grid to fit the MWD you mentioned. Of course, you then need a team of people set up dozens of km apart to transfer cap if you want to actually attain those speeds... ------
