I've seen this happen a few times now - You can war deck a corp, instantly retract said war deck and you have instant ability to fight for 24 hours. This totally removes the need to wait 24 hours for the war deck to be 'activated' providing the agressor with a huge suprise advantage.
What gives?

I will put in a petition if there's no true feedback on this thread. However, I wanted to see if anyone on the forum knew more about it before I added to the already load crippled petition system.

Could be that the war declaring corp was part of an alliance that you are at war with. When they leave they recive the old war automaticly to avoid exploits.

Cory has the right of it. When a corp leaves an alliance that's at war with you, you get a mail showing that they declare a war, then another that immediately retracts it. They show as being able to fight for 24-hours.
It looks like an exploit from the EVEmails, but it actually isn't. ---------- The right to do something doesn't make doing it right. |

Thanks Cory and Terghon. That must be it, thanks for explaining that to me

yes cory has got it right on one point,
however I have seen a few ppl say that x corp decc'd them then instantly retracted (CORP not alliance) and the war went live..
Cory's version is not an exploit the other one IS afaik

The wardec exploit is an illusion. I've talked with a GM about it, and they confirmed that the only way it happens is with a corp leaving an at-war alliance. It is a bit of an EVE urban myth that the instant declare/retract works, but it doesn't.
If it worked, it would be used a LOT by the various underhanded types, and CCP would've fixed it. Truly, there is no instant war declare/retract exploit. I tested it myself with an alt, and it just doesn't work (the mails showing one of my alts declaring war on the other were kind of amusing though). ---------- The right to do something doesn't make doing it right. |
