I just realized that my understanding of some of the trade skills are totally mistaken.
I thought that Procurement allowed me to place ranged buy orders. I.e. that I'm required to have procurement lvl 5 to place a regional buy order. But that doesn't seem to be the case, it seems like it allows me to place a buy order Remotely. But why cant I place a ranged buy order without this skill on my other character?
Visibility would then allow me to place a ranged buy order Remotely.
If this is true, that leveling Procurement isn't required to increase the range on buy orders, then why cant I place a ranged buy order on a character I dont have procurement on?

You don't need Visibility or Procurement to place a ranged buy order.
Set up a buy order in the station you're in, set the range (bear in mind you have to use the Place Buy Order button in the market interface) and you're sorted.
Procurement lets you place remote buy orders (eg you're in Korama. You want to place a buy order in Oimmo. You'll need Procurement).
Visibility lets you set a range on remote buy orders, ie those set up with Procurement.
You don't need Procurement/Visibility to set up a ranged buy order in the station you're in, but you do need to set it up in a slightly different way.

Hmm, yeah I understand that.
My confusion seems to stem from the fact that I've never been able to change the range of a buy order. If you right-click an item and then go advanced, it seems like you cant change the range.
Well, atleast I understand it correctly now. I felt like an idiot for a while, and kinda sad now to realize that you dont need a skill to place ranged orders. I was looking forward to being able to place ranged buy orders... :P

To set up a buy order with range, you'll need to set it up in a different way. You'll want to look at post 125 of the thread that Miranda linked.
