Exclusive EVE "Avatars" Video from GDC 2007 "Magnus Bergsson, CMO for CCP, Inc. (developers of EVE Online) allowed us to videotape an early look inside the game in from the eyes and over the shoulders of player avatars."

VirginWorlds Podcast #56 - CCP Interview "Day two at the Game Developer's Conference. Today I talked with Magnus Bergsson the Chief Marketing Officer of CCP. We discussed the upcoming enhancements to EVE Online including the ability for players to get out of their ships and walk around in space stations. Magnus showed be an incredible clip of the avatars within a station and they're everything you are expecting and more."
Write-ups
GDC: EVE Online-White Wolf Update "Bergsson emphasised that this character avatar update was not going to be a separate game within EVE Online. You won't go on separate quests inside space stations and you won't be able to shoot other characters inside the stations."
GDC - EVE Online "With so much focus paid on 0.0 space, it's often easy to forget that some players intentionally avoid the strife and spend time in Empire where gangs are not of importance. Because of this, there's no advantage or impetus to join a gang. I asked Magnus what was in the pipeline to change this? His reaction was amusing. He was honestly surprised as, like many EVE developers, he had moved on from Empire and lives in 0.0; it simply hadn't occurred to him that many players weren't ganging up since in 0.0 space gangs are essential to survive."
Vampires from Outer Space? - A Glimpse of the World of Darkness MMO via EVE Online "At first, the answer was just what I expected. ôWe are still very early in development, and weÆre still hashing out the actual way the game is going to be played out,ö said Magnus Bergsson, CCPÆs chief marketing officer. ôThere just isnÆt any information available yet.ö"
CCP/White Wolf Throwing GDC Recruitment Party "Well, if you're interested in working in the game business, moving up in the game business, or just want to see if your liver can keep up with the combined might of these two titans of intoxication and party like there is no tomorrow, here is your chance."

That video is pretty ****in' awsome. Unfotunately I'm not a fan of the 'walking around in stations' thing. If I want to do that, I'll play an FPS.

it's sickly sad that he wasn't aware that carebears exist in his game. maybe the people who live in empire should take this as a hint that at some point you are supposed to move out and do something interesting for a change.

Just got back home from GDC myself and had an absolutely marvelous time chatting with Magnus and Keiron - Thanks so much, guys!
I'll have an article posted tomorrow about it all. Right now I'm still entertaining the thought of going back to the city for the party tonight!
Just in case you devs read this thread, by the way, this is Todd C. the journalist from Prey's World I Feel Renewed Already |

YAY we're getting a new board game now, as well as the card game AND another MMO! Even though Eve is chock-full of bugs.
CCP please get your house in order, I for one don't care about revenue-generating novelties and don't want to hear about them. Please fix Eve before any of this... for gawd sake.

Did anyone else listen to the interview and hear something about a Mac client after the Linux client was mentioned? Or am I hearing things? Because, that would be awesome.

Edited by: Frug on 09/03/2007 04:09:03 I gotta say, Magnus Bergsson is a pretty cool name to have.
From one of the links: Quote: While I think many players would like some additional tools in the corporation system Magnus indicated that while they have made some recent modifications to the system that they believe will help corporations in the addition of contracts, which has features specifically designed to aid corporations in distributing materials/responsibilities to their members, the vast majority of players are not directors of corporations and would not benefit from a further overhaul of the system.
Wow. That sucks. Corp management needs an overhaul but it's not a priority now.
