If you were me and had just over 4 billion ISK in your wallet and were leaving EVE for an undetermined amount of time..
What would you invest it in? Minerals? T2? a BPO? Or just let it sit there? I know 4b isn't that much in todays game but I was hoping I could have my ISK 'work' for me while I'm gone.

If I were you, I'd invest it in me.
on a more serious note - just keep it. Investment opportunities in EVE have the potential to be scams. If it's your money, keep it in your wallet. That way you definitely will have it when you come back (and 4 billion is a lot of money by the standards of most individual players)
bird in the hand and all that. ***

I would not invest in any one person, or corporation if you're leaving. Don't put your profit capability in the hands of another player.
Spread it out amongst different materials...
Buy some minerals, or if you have perfect refine setup large buy orders for ORE & ICE at low prices.
Buy some battleship BPO's, setup ME research slots in empire and research them to their max ME while you're away, auction them off when you get back... etc...
Plenty of ways to do it IMO...

Dont give it away! That would be a waste of your time you invested in your character! Just train some skill that takes weeks.. mabey months to train and just let it idle for a while. And if you come back you still have your isk and you character is a bit updates as well

4 Billion would get you a Guardian Vexor. As a rare item it will always go up in value. Until they turn off the sever, that is.

I'd invest it in something pretty steady and static like FIN (or maybe AATP). Neither is likely to disappear so soon when you get back you'd get a nice pile of dividends.
I'd avoid buying just one type of share; mix it around a bit.
I'd avoid ISSO, personally.

I'd buy two or three battleship BPOs and set them up for research while you are gone.
Or invest in someone to do that for you that you can trust.

As the others have said, invest the money wisely.
If you want to have a bit of fun with some of it, sinply give out units of 5 million isk to noobs you like. Simply ask them to send you an eve mail telling you how they are getting on once a month or something.
Then when you come back you can track there progress from noob to more seasoned player. All it takes is one out of 20 to do really well and you'll always be known as "that guy who helped me get set up" to that person. That could be worth more than 4 billion isk depending on how well the player does and all at a cost of 5 mill.

Set an absurdly high buy order for trit in jita, so all mined trit is sold to you (while you are not even playing the game), screwing it up for everyone else.
When you come back people will be gagging for it and you can sell it off at (even more) absurd prices. -
If you go into your options menu, there's a difficulty slider. Put that all the way over to the easiest setting and you'll be fine. |
