Well it depends on the nature of the new missions for one, as well as your own fighting style. Me personally I'm training as a carrier-pilot. Got my eye on an Archon. My corpmate is going after a dreadnought. Figure it'll be a decent team-up, but as with PvP I have to wonder if you'll be able to solo run missions in a capital, or if that will leave you vulnerable to the smaller line ships (did I just refer to battleships as "smaller"....damn I want a carrier...)

Edited by: Chaimera on 09/03/2007 21:45:45 Different capitals will fulfill different roles.
Archons / Nig: These carriers will be great for remote repairing recon ships keeping them alive for ...
Nag/Phoenix: Will be used greatly in combination of huggin/rapier teams to 1-2 volley battleships.
Moros: This ship setup with double webs will be really good for all purpose mission running. Will be VERY deadly killing frigs/cruisers quickly with a web + its drone bonus.
Each capital will have their roles and places in it. However, I believe there will still be lots of need for recon/command ship pilots in the gangs that run these group designed missions.

Confirmed. My absolute dream mission buddy for my phoenix is a huggin with 3xwebber, 3xpainter which would be easily sufficient to one-volley BSs. Math-wise, it should be even sufficient for 2 BSs at once. I even think of creating a second account (a funny little minmatar slave, every amarr's dream :D).
I think as well that moros will be the absolute Uber-PvE capital.
The problem i see with carriers is, that the fighters will probably have the same stage pull problems like drones have nowadays. And if there will be so much NPCs that you can't tank the whole stage with a carrier, then you'll have a problem...
A Dread, even a non-moros, that can tank the whole stage with its 12.000-14.000dps tank and a support huggin may be still better than the flexible (but aggro-prone) fighters. -- This game is still in beta stage |

perhaps this kind of missions will combine both ship to complt it. like to conquer u need a carrier + support ... and to kill a struktur u need the firepower of a dreadnought?
I personal think ccp work on it to make this new mission for a team and not soloablE: All other things will end up in isk farming.
Combine the thanatos with the absolution in a team. (amroed warfare mods on it) coud be an awesome tank.#we will see when its ready. I m courios about the new missions.

For solo? I'd have to say either a carrier or a Moros, other dreads won't be able to take down smaller ships very effectively, whereas the carriers can use drones to take down BS/capital rats, and smartbombs to obliterate the small stuff.

You are missing a pretty crucial point here..
You aren't going to be killing bs's in your capital ships, you will be killing npc capital ships.

what have you been smoking? the sig radius on battleships gives it a 37% chance to hit (geddon 370m) vs (1000m ion siege blaster cannon I) any dreadnought guns are only going to hit with one turret a volley. Now if we are shooting at other dreads that could get interesting. ------------- Hadean Drive Yards The EvE inflation, 80 Macro miners, 1.5b isk/day |

Yeah, but if a domi with 5 t2 heavies + 50 % damage bonus can melt mission battleships, a moros with 5 t2 heavies + 250 % damage bonus should obliterate them. Moros = superdomi.

Nahh.
Moros drones arn't that effective on battleships (mission wise)... also a royal pain in the arse with traveling times to the target... time they have scooted along to the first one... you have 10 or something battleships all orbiting you at 40km, all miles apart.
Enemies abound 1/5 would be the example id use of that, the only mission i ever used a carrier for instead.. fighters hit as hard... get there in a few seconds, not minutes.
As for whats best, who knows.. hard to dial it in without knowing what comes your way. ______

What makes you so sure about this point?
In level3 missions, that were in former times supposed to be BS-sized, you had to multiple frigs and cruiser as well. The BS sized missions of today, level4, even contains tons and tons of frigs and cruisers. Literally every patch that said "there will be less smaller but instead a few big ships" brought us more and more small shippies, up to around 150 and more. (wtf CCP, btw).
Following this unlogic, CCP might as well simply turn up the number of frigs, cruiser and BSs in Level5 and 6 missions to around 300-500 with not one single capital in it.
Would be 100% CCP-like. -- This game is still in beta stage |

You are right, I'm not sure. Just relaying what ccp said and as you mention, it doesn't neccesarily have any worth to it.

hey hey
with all the PvP crazy people and noone mentioned DRONES ?
i thinkthe carrier is pre gimped for PvE cause of the NPC tendency to kill drones. be prepared to kiss goodbye to at least 1 fighter per mission but make sure its a Templar Fighter Drone used by amarrians. . . .

this will not happen, they will focus on fewer but stronger opponents to reduce serverload!

I hope so, mate. It would be the best hing to do and would really make sense.
Problem is: so far, "focusing on fewer but stronger opponents" resulted in the exact opposite every time.
Still, my hope lives on that they will figure it out this time... -- This game is still in beta stage |

Did any of you notice how the new exploration complexes are so different from older deadspaces ?
The main difference is in the aggro rules. They dont all go for the same first target, and often you'll see successive waves come in that choose a new target not based on range or first to aggro them.
That makes carrier teams more favourable then a dread+huginn team since the huginn would be toast when aggroed.

NPCs will *never ever ever* get off you and onto drones if you aggro them first unless you move out of their range and they have to re-aggro. The carrier just needs to find some way to aggro the spawn/room and they'll be golden.

Perhaps we will see mine fields around plexes u had to cross and smartbomb using makes a big badabum ? Woud be interesting if for the first part u had to think about how u can solve such a problem.
What is happend if u had to enter the plex at first with an dreadnought? Turn on a siege modus to destroy a structur that support the large guns with power. And only the siege modus will make its tankable? all other ships get toasted after they came out of warp.
I like speculate about things who will be add to the game in future
