Saila is unplayable and really spoils the Eve experience.

Can we not just move the Aramachi Agent to another 0.5 system in EVE on a completely different node. It just makes sense.

Its not just Saila, Motsu is usually just as bad, as are 2 or 3 other systems in the direct vincinity.
Something has to be done about this, its unacceptable to wait 30 or more seconds until a command (warp, movement, weapon activation, cargo movement, etc) is processed, because ur ship can easily be destroyed in this time. And not as a single event but regularly. The 1 minute plus, waiting in queue at the stargate from Saila to Motsu and visa versa has almost become a celebrity event. At least during prime times. But at least that usually doesnt kill ur ship.
Either put more processing power and bandwidth to the server node hadnling those systems, split them on multiple nodes, or make the server work more efficiently with the resources it has.
The way it is its up to unplayable - and definitely stops to be fun. All the chat in the local channels is about ppl complaining out of character about lag.

All I want is a CCP statement about this matter. Something like, "we know its there were workin on it", cause from my point of view nothing seems to be done about this.
OK, then you'll like this:

We'll also be doing more world-shaping, where we're dispersing some activity from certain hotspots. Moving agents around, so that there are less people per solar system,[...]

saila is rediculus, after all the supposidly new hardware, and performance tweaks, after countless extended downtimes, several 24 hr downtimes, ect.
its still as bad if not worse than it ever was. yet peak player count has seemed to have leveled off at about high 20k to low 30k. So what difference has all this new hardware made? i seldomely take a msn in saila and tbh ive not been doin msns very much lately, before anyone tells me "to get out of saila". My bone of contention is with the fact that for nearly 12 months , nothing seems to have been improved enough to reflect the amount of downtimes/upgrades. One thing that worries me is when they say, they've added 40% to server capacity. What if the capacity was only say 25000 ppl before that. That means that even after all the upgrades maximum server capacity is only going to be around 33000 players. lets be lieniant, and say that its capable of a maximum of 40000 ppl,.That im afraid isnt anywhere near enough. Now, what they should be looking at was an increase of 400% its like the national grid here in the uk. because of the markets, its always running at 99-100% of cap, because everyone wants to be as efficent at making money as possible, and so they leave no "spare" capacity in the grid, in case of an incident. so what happens if something goes pear shaped? like say a power station goes offline? ppl suffer power cuts, because there was no spare capacity.
this is eve atm They know that if they want to keep eve alive they are going to have to put there hands in there pockets at some point. But only doing so when they have reached maximum cap is the wrong way about it.

Unfortunately, the clusters granularity has a smallest possible entity. That is one solersystem on one node/cpu. Adding new cpu's doesn't affect that smallest part of the eve universe; it however evens the load of system per cpu overall. Changing the world in a way to encourage spreading of players to multiple systems is in the works as quoted above from the dev blog.

Signed.
I just searched for this thread because my one character's lvl 1 missions are living nightmares, and I just received a lvl 4 AE mission there with my other... I can't even imagine what I'm going to be able to do beyond losing a BS there.
I have a corp m8 who won back the Saila lag-lost Raven he petitioned for within about 2 hours one or two days ago.
Seeing as it really is unplayable, I'm going to start petitioning for every lvl 4 mission I am asked to go there for.

This crap really has gone too far:
- A system, or systems, that are basically unplayable - CCP refuses to fix it - GM's refuse to clear the missions, saying "just go elsewhere" (paraphrasing there)
I've lived with a lot of Eve glitches over the years, but refusing to serve customers in as far as something so readily observable and problematic is just crap.

Corp mate got the same response from a GM to the lagged out agents
"go some where else"
Thats great... i know i have left the agents there, the "patches" and "proformace fixes" i have seen do NOTHING for motsu or saila. Now we all know the highest lvl agent is gonna get the traffic.. so why in GODS NAME would some one move them to a system with another lvl 4 agent, and have 3 other lvl 4 agents all 1 to 2 jumps away?! Seems like either some one wanted to get out early, or just thought one massive lag pit would be fun?
Anyway hope one day soon The GM's listen and actully do something about it, cus this is not a new problem.

Continuing theme.
Saila is ridiculous.
Normally (when i'm not lagged), in a mission i can take out the NPC scorpian in less than 1 load of missiles (7 launchers, 33 missiles each). When lagged (which is most of the time), has taken on average 4 reloads to do the same job. I keep getting lagged, and the ships will get the opportunity to recharge their shields to either full, or near enough to full. AND able to continue shooting me.
The needing to reload to kill a ship i can put up with. The 2 to 3 minute reload, i cannot. And the frequent 1 to 2 minute, if not more, pauses during play.
Something seriously needs to be done.
So much for the "Need for speed initiative".
Rant done. Fix please.

I asked the GM's to put it on a single node, they replied it that Saila and Motsu both had one for themself :(

Edited by: Thanatos Molikroth on 10/04/2007 01:24:23 i have had 2 simular instances in the motsu and saila area... my agent is based in motsu but i have frequent missions in saila...
first instance was a black screen and the window said "not responding" after 1-2 minutes it finally loaded and i was in a pod. i petitioned, and was reimbursed.
second instance was earlier today, i warped in aggroed the enemies... i had a raven wingman. after they got through my shields and someways through my amor, i attempted to activate my repairers... there was not animation on a mouseover, clicking did not make the button flash green.... all other modules were not responding either... once through my armor i died quickly.
there was only 50-60 people in local so i didnt think it could be lag, but i came across this post...
glad to here i'm not alone.
