Edited by: ToxicFire on 10/03/2007 14:31:17 Seriously doubt thats anything but a concept art video, too high detail level for any realistic real time engine.
Ok I take that back listening to the audio track.... but seriously given the number of stations in the game... this is going have to either cause instancing or sharding of the server to cope with it.

not sharding/instancing, more like having dedicated nodes for on-foot/avatar station walking, seperate from our normal in-space/old station node use.
Of course this is all optional to EVE Online. Reason they're doing it in EVE Online is because of the upcoming World of Darkness MMO that will benefit from this technology. EVE will just get the bonus of having avatars that walk and move around :P
Considering that DX10 can pull off these kinds of graphics (see: Crysis), I'm not surprised if it's realtime. *

It's been stated that that video was DX9 ---

I'll be curious to see how much of that video was cutscene detail and how much was actual game play...
In the meantime I already have career plans for my in-station activities...
Change? Got some spare change?

When I saw this video I was completely plastered! I woke up the next morning with a hangover and a vague memory of people walking up to a Zealot, I just thought I had been dreaming about Eve again.
It wasn't until a week later I actually came across the video again BIG Lottery |
