After minimal training, these should all fit for new characters with Revelations level skills. They'll pull in about 225 m3/cycle (20,000 isk/cycle for Massive Scordite.) Train (Racial) Frigate and Astrogeology to IV and they'll pull in almost 350 m3/cycle.

The Imicus is a Gallente ship that can use three Mining Drone II's for 316 m3 / cycle. (357 m3 / cycle with Mining Drone and Astrogeology IV) You can also switch them out for combat drones and remove the MLUs and mine in lower sec, however this is not economical due to the high price for Scordite at the moment.

What a pain and training.
All you non-Caldari who want to be miners.

You can train from nothing to a medium barge pretty quickly, especially if you start with a miner based character.

Yeah, if you start with a mining char, it only take like 10 days or so.

Minmitar Scythe isn't bad at mining either. And I had my retriever in about a month, just train the proper training skills first.

If your making an alt just to mine. Most will want thier main char to mine also. Which you would want to roll a custom char and level out all the attributes

The Dominix isnt too hard to get if your a gallente character...
Also, why no cargo expanders? If you dont have haulers they help allot.

Edited by: Florio on 29/09/2007 11:10:38 If you are new to eve and by yourself, you could do worse than aim to buy and use one of these mining frigates as soon as possible, together with 2 mining II lasers. I would go for cargo expanders if you are by yourself. After only a few trips back and forth to the belts (mining scordite) you will have enough isk for your first combat frigate. If you are new, sell the scordite raw rather than refine it.

since this is a noob information thread you should explain what skils are we supposed to get in the "minimal training" part to equip all 2 "mining ii" laser :).

The Scythe has less CPU, making it unlikely you can fit 2 mining upgrades along the 3 Miner 2's/MDCM 2's.

That would be the skill "Mining" to level 4 - which if you're remotely focused on mining you'll want to get early on, since it allows you to use T2 mining lasers and T1 strip miners in addition to giving a 20% increase in your yield.

well i just wanted to point out that i had mining V and couldn't equip 2 mining laser 2 and the mentionned ship and that's with a Miner carrer path, i guess i wasn't clear :)

you are correct:
for Minmatar, the burst cannot handle 2 miner II's and the probe can equip them but one runs out of cap very quickly making having to restart one a pain. trying to stagger two will only prolong the agony.
the probe can use one miner I & one miner II with no problem though...
and as a newbie myself, if you dont have cargo extenders, your not mining!

You need to revise your section on the Imicus. Mining Drone II's require you to have the skill Mining Drone Operation V, which will likely take a new character well over two weeks to train for.
3x Mining Drone I's are the best you can use with a "beginning" character.

Ah, good point. Yes, Miner II's take 80tf CPU each, and the Burst only has 140tf base CPU so that's not going to fit. If you trained the skill "Electronics" up to level 2 (this should only take a few hours) then your Burst would have 168tf CPU and could fit both mining lasers and the three civilian items. You'd need another two levels of Electronics to get the SPR on there; alternatively, an Expanded Cargohold will fit with no CPU use whatsoever.
Electronics is another skill that is important for everyone, and most fits will assume both Electronics and Engineering (increase powergrid) to level V. This is really important for combat fits, where you want to squeeze the most powerful weapons and offensive/defensive mods that you can onto a single ship. For miners, powergrid isn't that important but CPU can definitely be an issue - especially when you start adding Mining Laser Upgrades, those lasers get very CPU-hungry.

upgrade to the "Probe" it does not have the mining bonus but it does have lots of cargo, more with cargo extenders. it requires frigate II.
once in that probe, start skilling up for a rifter and gunnery/elec/upgrade skills while mining. you will want to be able to fly combat missions so you can take a break from mining once in awhile :) after you get a decent rifter set up,doesnt take long, you will be much more flexible about things you want to do.
starting as a miner, then training combat skills will put you in the grove to do just about anything be it trade/combat/mine/production etc etc. a well rounded life indeed..
